Ubercaster beta
Übercaster, which I posted about a few months ago, is an application with a unique approach to podcasting. This one application claims to have all the features you need to produce a podcast from soup to nuts. If you were chomping at the bit to give this app a try, chomp no more! A public beta is now in progress.The beta is free though it expires on August 23rd, 2006. Übercaster is a Universal binary and requires OS X 10.4.4 or higher.

Wow. I just tried it out... I love it. I can't afford to get any iLife updates, so I'm stuck Pre-Garage Band. This is an awesome replacement, although I've never really had time to get down and dirty w/ Garage Band, I love this. I hope it doesn't cost too much on the official release, though.

Just so you know.

GarageBand should be more focused on recording and manipulating multitrack music. I fear Apple's going to let development of the tools useful to home recording enthusiasts slip, and bolster the podcasting features.
And that sucks.

It's not a new concept castblaster (www.castblaster.com) has been around for a while, ubercaster is similar to that but much better with more features like the ability of doing post production.

"4. It's "champing" at the bit.
Just so you know."
yeah, and just so YOU know, the link you provided actually says it can be either "champing at the bit" or "CHOMPING at the bit"

Phosphor, i think GarageBand is fun to play with and all, and you can get some decent recordings in it, but it's not the best app for multi-track. apple knows this, that's why they have Logic Express. it's more expensive, but i know a many home recording enthusiasts (myself included) that would rather spend the money and use Express than be limited with GarageBand.

Ubercaster is great. I do my podcast with it as I was a lucky tester of the app. The Beta is even better. You should really check out this software... It's the best software period for podcasting on a Mac.
Oh and check my latest podcast at http://bolddeceiver.blogspot.com.

" 'Chomping' at the bit" kinda reeks of a baseless education in phraseology. No serious journalist would use it. I'm not being a linguistic Luddite here, but this variation of the original phrase hasn't reached enough significant usage mass to warrant interchangeability. There are semantic differences that preclude it. It may in time—perhaps when horses and riders become an extinct pairing—but it still needs to cook for a while.
===================
And yes, GarageBand is an entry-level multitrack recording app. That's a given. But Apple could have done better by creating a dedicated podcast creation app. GarageBand could be at risk of becoming bloatware if it's allowed to deviate too far from its original focus and intent.
