Groupcal 3: manage your Exchange calendar from iCal

Are you a Mac user living in an Exchange world, forced to trudge through Entourage? (Don't get me wrong: Entourage is fine, but 'trudge' is just a good verb for dramatic effect.) Well trudge no longer with Groupcal 3, an addon for iCal that allows you to access, manage, edit and synchronize your Exchange calendars and tasks. Also on the feature list are: subscribing to coworker's free time, sending/receiving meeting invites, sharing/publishing calendars through .Mac or WebDAV and even syncing with an iPod or Palm through iSync.

Groupcal 3 is a Universal Binary, a demo is available and a single licenses costs $55. As you might expect, multi-license packs are available starting at 5 seats, moving all the way up to 500 and 1000 pack licenses.

Er, when did "trudge" change from a verb to an adjective?

I don't mean to be negative, but I've tried Snerdware's products before. They were impossible to configure, gave incorrect errors and just plain didn't work. The customer support was virtually non-existent. I vouwed after multiple attempts to get support that I would never give them another cent. Maybe I just had bad luck but I would proceed with caution.

Unfortnately it doesn't work in my environment, which apparently uses an authentication method unsupported by Groupcal. However, people in Snerdware have shown their earnest efforts identifying my problems. It is one software I hope someday I will be able to use (either that, or Apple should support Exchange servers in next version of iCal).

If you are interested in being able to allow others to see and edit your iCal calendars using on their machine, check out SyncBridge (http://syncbridge.com).

This is off the subject of this post, but relevent to recent Apple news. Upon browsing through the application Mactracker today, I noticed that the recent Nike + iPod is not the first Nike has been incoporated into an Apple product. The Personal LaserWriter LS's code name was indeed "Nike".
