Widget Watch: QuickMail

QuickMail DashMail might not be the prettiest Dashboard widget I've ever seen, but it certainly is one of the most functional: it allows you to send a quick email from Gmail, .Mac, Yahoo, AOL or AIM, and even has the option for entering custom server settings for those who like to blaze their own trail. Simply enter the username and password of your chosen service on the back of the widget and you're off and running. It even remembers previous recipients (sorry, no Address Book integration as of yet) and subject lines; that's what those menu ticks are beside their respective fields.

QuickMail DashMail is provided free from Scue Records.

[UPDATE: Due to a company already naming an email client 'QuickMail', Scue Records has renamed their widget to DashMail.]

I've been using DashMail for a few weeks now--REALLY useful widget! Thanks for developing items for the Mac community! (your mail checker lives on my dashboard, too.)

Hi all.

just a quick note to say that you're right, we didn't do our research and we made a mistake with the name.

we've just renamed the product to 'SwiftMail' (http://www.scue.co.uk/widgets/swiftmail) to put things right.

also we've taken your other comments about address book integration onboard and will definitely look into it when time permits - our first album release this week is eating up most of our spare time :)

sorry if we offended anyone - it was an honest (but stupid) mistake.

Ok.. So, it send s "quick" emails from Dashboard. I'm not really impressed. Not only odes it have very windows-ugly interface(as David mentioned), but it isn't integrated with the Address Book. Hmm. I'm not gonna waste my time looking for an address just so I can send a "quick" mail. I'll just continue using Mail.

If they slick up the interface, and address the integration issue, I might just come back. Oh well.
