Camino build optimized for Intel
For Intel Mac users who are just ga-ga for Camino, a helpful MozillaZine Forums user by the name of heronstalker has posted a build of Camino optimized for Intel Macs - but only for Intel Macs. This is not a Universal Binary, it's a... Singular Binary, er something.I ran my old 'n busted copy of Camino against this new hotness Intel build on my 2.0 Ghz MacBook Pro, and I *think* it feels zippier. Of course, it could just be the fancy new Intel shine, so YMMV. For those users interested in saving some disk space, however, this build shaves 17MB off Camino's footprint; my Universal Camino is 39.9MB, while the Singular Binary Camino (yes, I know that isn't a real term) is only 22.3MB (this is a great example of why apps like Monolingual exist).
This Intel build, which is the latest 1.0.2 version, btw, can be had from this MozillaZine Forum post.
Thanks Jason Piper

I don't need things spoon-fed. You don't need to be demeaning. I was just making a suggestion. It seems quite reasonable to suggest mentioning what an app does instead of assuming every person reading already knows. And it does not in fact take less time to google for the info if there many instances of such posts (there have been), and only one suggestion being made. Why send a reader off to google to determine what it is you're talking about, when you can reveal it with 3 syllables and parentheses? Glad I gave you the opportunity to be smug and smarmy, though.

Otherwise people go and follow 3 links and root around only to find out it's something they wouldn't be interested in anyway.
I *think* it feels zippier
It's the fastest broswer i've ever used. I'm intrigued however i think i'll stick with the official builds of camino. Optimized builds of FF are worth it though!

#4: Have you tried going into Camino's support folder in your Home folder and removing it, then starting from anew and re-importing your old bookmarks file?
If you need to know where it is: ~/Library/Application Support, and Camino should be in there. You could try quitting Camino, then dragging that folder to the deskstop, and then opening Camino again (it'll start blank, with none of your settings and bookmarks). Then, you could re-import your old bookmarks file from wherever you moved the old Camino support folder.
Have you tried any of the other typical support procedures, like repairing permissions and using Disk Utility to verify your disk? There could be something larger than Camino wrong here.
I've had to switch from Camino to Firefox on my MBP because my bookmarks keep getting corrupted. Until they fix this (which they say they have) I regretfully can't use El Camnno.

And indeed, Apple has a command-line tool that does the same thing for universal binaries (converting them into PPC- or Intel-only binaries). It's called lipo (yes, as in liposuction). Open up the terminal and type 'man lipo' to find out how to use it. I would be curious how big the universal Camino is after running lipo on it to make it Intel-only.
#1: See, now andazp, you ruined all my fun of thinking that I was all clever in making up the 'Singular Binary' phrase. ;)
