Flickr Find: Seen at WWDC 2006 - "Introducing Vista 2.0" banner

If the WWDC 06 tension is becoming too much to bear, TUAW reader Gernot Poetsch probably isn't helping anything, as he sent a link to his Flickr account with a pic of some more banners in Moscone hall. If you check out his larger copy at Flickr, you can (almost) clearly see the banner at the top of the image says, and I quote: "Introducing Vista 2.0"; an attitude that clearly reflects just a slight bit of confidence on Apple's part in light of what is now four years of Vista setbacks.
Another image in Gernot's photostream is titled Hasta la Vista. Vista, and while it isn't a clear shot of the banner, it doesn't sound far-fetched from all the other marketing previews we've been graced with so far.
Here's hoping Apple previews a Mac OS X 10.5 on Monday that lives up to all the Vista jabs they've been taking. We'll post more of these goodies as we come upon them, but for now, you can resume your anxious pacing.

Look closer -- I see "Web 2.2" or maybe "2.3" in it, not VIsta 2.0.

August 07 2006 at 9:59 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI don't see its vista-esque, it's just a cd with a big X in the middle and leopard stripes in the background.
August 07 2006 at 9:57 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyThe a could be an - e - lowercase. See,s to me that the photographer could have take the same picture from a slightly different angle and gotten more of a full picture.
August 07 2006 at 9:09 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyOK, I missed the "hasta" one. We have no way of knowing if that's really what it says but it wouldn't surprise me if it did say "hasta la vista, vista".
August 07 2006 at 9:01 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Replyi think "st" could fit quite easily in that space the window framing that is blocking it is about twice as wide as the "a". I dont have any doubt it says vista.
As far as the "S" banner it is tagged in the image as saying "hasta la vista vista" and everyone has been reporting that that is what it says. At any rate steve probably had the printer crank one out with that slogan in the middle of the night.
The "hasta la vista, vista" is just a headline the guy made up. I don't remember anyone claiming there was a sign at the convention center that says that.
And about the sign...After enlarging the photo, it's difficult to see how 2 letters could fit between the obstruction but the problem is that it doesn't make sense if it says anything other than Vista. Someone suggested it says Vida which is a visualization program. That wouldn't make sense. Firstly, who has ever heard about it? It's a niche product. They are trying to generate excitement and talking about Vida is not going to do it. It's not even an Apple product as far as I can tell. Secondly, this banner is about the OS, not a secondary application. If the banner was about a new version of Quicktime, it would have a Quicktime logo, not a picture of the Leopard DVD.
Thayne I think you should also get your facts right before posting because the two flickr photos are of different banners - the one with the S is the one that was previously reported and not the "Introducing Vi??a 2.0"
The two banners are 90º to each other
heh, clever as "hasta la vista, vista" is, I just have to laugh at all the schmucks who actually believe there is a banner that says that. I have yet to see ANY such banner. All that exists is some flickr set with a banner showing an "S". uh.... am I retarded or something? Also worthy to note is how just about every mac blog site picked up the "hasta la vista, vista" catch phrase, yet no evidence whatsoever supports this at all. It just goes to show you that people will believe anything they read and mindelessly re-report it as fact. Way to go tuaw for being a pinnacle of falsehood in the murky waters of... uh... falsehood.
