Widget Watch: MultiDash - workspaces for Dashboard
Looks like even Dashboard is getting in on this 'spaces' concept with MultiDash - a workspace manager for your Mac OS X 10.4 widgets. Flipping the widget over allows you to create separate workspaces, and it simply records which widgets are open, complete with a screenshot, when you create the workspace. Flipping the widget back over allows you to click the title bar to chose which workspace you want to see and potentially switch to. Clicking the button on the bottom... well, that's pretty self explanatory. After tinkering around with this widget, I have to say: this is fantastic. Setting aside the debate about widgets and system resources, this is a killer way to manage sets of widgets for different Dashboard uses, rather than compromising with keeping all your widgets open or dealing with the less-than-ideal widget strip in the Dashboard to re-open widgets as you need them.
MultiDash is available from JBearTechnologies as donationware, and I highly recommend dropping them at least a buck (pound, etc.) or two for their slick work.

I can't understand people, which are using multi desktops. For what?! I have only one screen and I don't need more

Multiple desktops are really useful evary day to me. I usually have Skype, iChat, 2+ Safari pages, and iTunes open. Being able to keep the iTunes window in full-window mode and simply hitting Command-B to surf the web, Command-Shift-G to quickly check if I have any e-mails, or Command-Shift-C if Growl tells me my friend's logged on or if someone's calling me is too helpful for words.
Not to mention the spiffy transitions and helpful color-coded desktops.

#3: Your best bet is probably to sell the machine and purchase a new Intel Mac Pro if you want one that badly.
I would wager that the hardware upgrade companies won't be selling upgrade kits, as you would need to purchase an entirely new logic board and CPU(s) to actually make the transition. You might also need new ram and who knows what other kinds of hardware.
It stings, but that's unfortunately the nature of the computer beast. Good luck.

Anyone know why in the world Apple set up Dashboard so that you have to sit and wait for all the widgets to load after you press F12? Why don't they set it up so that they load during idle time or something, so when you press F12 they're all loaded already? Is there a hack or tweak or something that might accomplish this?

I would actually keep this on my system if it didn't restart Dashboard. It looks like it also restarts the dock. That's a little time consuming for using widgets.
