Found Footage: Leopard GUI in action

What's that sound you hear? NDA's breaking all over the place. The latest peek of Leopard comes via Digg. Check out the use of Core Animation (I assume) in action. I can't decide if this is great advance in user interface or if it is obnoxious. Sound out in the comments.

The help stuff is real. It works pretty nicely. And about it being purple-- the Spotlight thing was only available in Blue in the tiger previews. I'm sure this will change to look like something that belongs in there more.

Oh and no, you can't change the cursor. It's probably the screencast software doing that. (Why would you want to change the cursor though? The thing can only get uglier as the current one is simplicity itself).

The find function is cool, but my favorite new feature is the RSS reader in Mail. It has a beautiful new layout and design. Hands down, the best feature. Spaces is great too...

Was that a different mouse cursor?! Will we finally have the ability to change it without downloading stuff?!?

The text search results interface is beautiful. I've been asking for an update to the interface for within-document-search for a while.

RE: breaking teh NDA... I wouldn't be too concerned about that ever since the DVD popped up online. We can all experience this stuff ourselves now, so no big deal.

The inline search implementation in Safari is freakin' HOTT though.

the purple thing is nice and pretty.

and EASY TO SPOT you cyber-eyes young lucky people.

it's like spotlight (or omniweb adress bar): a special text input widget so at last it is easy to spot.

While I do think the purple is an ugly design element, remember that we're looking at a large time span from Preview 1 to Gold. I'm guessing this will very likely change (remember how in the leaked Tiger info the spotlight icon wasn't an icon at all--the entire upper-left hand corner of the menu bar was blue?). This is still a very early release; the technology is what they're probably testing at this stage, not the UI.

That purple arrow is.....OK, jarring. If it doesn't move that fast in real life, then I can see some people like my folks liking it. Indeed, it says, "Look at me!" .....but am I the only person who thinks the purple is pretty and cute? ...Probably so.

Does anyone know if NDA violators (?) have been tracked/prosecuted before for this sort of thing?

Suds: I can tell you this is really a screencast of Leopard Preview, and I doubt he/she broke any NDA, ahem. Safari 3 and Mail are the two things in Leopard Preview that look good already.

The purple floating bar is horrible, but not when you factor in the fact that it's trying to tell people "YOU ARE LOOKING FOR THIS!!".
If people didn't want a big colorful arrow telling them what to press they wouldn't be asking the help menu for it.
