NewsFire adds Leopard compatibility

David Watanabe wins a tip of my hat today for being one of the first 3rd party developers to add Leopard compatibility to NewsFire, his popular, streamlined RSS newsreader. From the release notes, this new version 1.4 build 68 also adds prefix/suffix string rules (I'm assuming for feed searches?).

It's great to see developers firing off Leopard-compatible updates so quickly, even though Leopard isn't going to be available to the public for at least another 4-5 months. Who wants to take bets as to how long it takes Adobe to update CS3 for Leopard? Of course, with the way things are going over there, we might have to wait for CS4 and 10.6.

This Leopard-compatible version of NewsFire is available from NewsFire's site.

I probably should've justified this more in the post, but my guess is that Apple will unveil the rest of Leopard at Macworld in January (4-5 months away, depending on the details), and make it available soon thereafter.

How much of a thorn in Microsoft's side would it be if Apple announced yet another OS for Spring, but actually released it EARLY?

Leopard isn't going to be released to the public until next Spring. That's a lot further away than 4-5 months guys...

its great to see newsfire finally get some attention. It's clearly better designed and more functional than netnewswire, and besides, their have been so many NetNewsWire posts on TUAW that it could probably fill up its own category.

Leopard will be available in 4-5 months? Try 7-9 months. Last time I checked, December 2006 didn't qualify as Spring 2007.

I'm beginning to think Adobe is becoming the new Quark. And I don't mean that in a good way.
