Outlook to Address Book tip roundup at macosxhints

Honestly: I wish macosxhints would stop rocking the tips so hard, because I'm getting sick of blogging them (kidding). This latest tip, however, tackles a Windows switcher question that consistently appears in discussion forums all over the Mac web: how do I get my Outlook contacts into Address Book?

The posted tip includes instructions for simply importing Outlook contacts into Thunderbird, then exporting those to a format Address Book can read. If that's too much work for you, Rob chimed in with links to 6 other macosxhints posts covering various other methods to accomplish this not-yet-standard task (it's kind of strange that Apple hasn't built their own tools for this, being hungry for switchers and all), including an open source Windows app and what is possibly the most complicated hint I've ever seen for embarking on such a task. Either way, I think they've rounded up enough of these tips for everyone to make the switch with fairly little to no pain. Enjoy.

This hint at MacOSXHints should work a lot better than the original hint linked, and it doesn't require any additional software downloads.

I haven't done this in a couple of years, but vCards go back and forth between the two systems pretty well. You just have to tell Outlook to kick out your contacts as vCards and you're on your way...

I used Outlook2Mac to bring over email, contacts and calendar items, but I'm stuck on how to bring over Notes. I'd even settle for putting them into Stickies. Any body know how?

Outlook2Mac by Little Machines is an awesome little app, well worth the $10 or so to register. Very quick and easy to use, with some great options. You can export only certain folders, etc., or just do 1 big export. I had looked into Plaxo, but remember reading about some problems (unfortunately don't remember them, maybe they're solved.) But I think Outlook2Mac is cheaper anyways...

I use outlook2mac from a company called littlemachines.com - imports contacts, emails, and calenders to either Apple apps or Entourage.

I use Plaxo to sync my Mac's address book with my Outlook contact list. Works really well.
