Run Classic on an Intel Mac

We have covered SheepShaver before here on TUAW, the PowerPC emulator that makes running Classic a possibility on Intel Macs so, but we just pointed out that it exists. The good folks at UNEASYsilence have gone through the trouble of putting together a tutorial on how to get Classic up and running on your Intel Mac using SheepShaver.

Check it out if you still need a Classic app or two, but you crave the speed of the latest and greatest Mac hardware.

I thought my problems would be over when I got my mac book pro, finally my room mate would stop pestering me about some game called "Scarab of Ra" Little did I know there would be no OS 9 support on my intel machine, but Sheep Saver will be a life saver when I get home and off this PC they make me use at work. This game better be good... :-)

Hm, those craving the "speed of the latest and greatest Mac hardware" with SheepShaver might be better off seeking out a G5 PPC computer. SheepShaver runs at 1/8th native speeds (a number on their wiki), and when looking at System Profiler, it says you have a 100 Mhz processor. I still like the app though, it's pretty nifty for those need-to-have programs or the older non-processor-intensive games that you have stockpiled somewhere.

Eric: I still run Classic. And there are some good reasons why.

I don't have the money to update my version of Photoshop from 5.5 And I don't want to pirate it. And there are loads of programs that are developed for mentally handicapped people, such as my brother, that have never been developed for OS X and still need Classic. So there are many reasons to still use Classic.
