Wordpress to ecto plugin
It's the general consensus of most Mac users I know that ecto is the blogging client of choice. One thing I find very important about casual blogging is being able to quickly and easily go from viewing content to posting content. This is done in many online blogging environments by javascript bookmarklets, and ecto offers the same thing. Simply click the link in your bookmark bar, and a window pops up ready for a new post. Chris Barna decided to go one better and integrate this functionality directly WordPress by way of a plugin. Once a user has installed he wp-ecto plugin on their site, readers will see, along with any other social bookmarking icons so common on many sites today, a little ecto icon. Pressing this brings up a new post within ecto complete with title and URL already filled in.

I use Qumana as my blogging client. Because its cross-platform and free. Considering most blogs have a nice built in web accessible editor the small added convience of a blogging client doesn't (imo) warrant actually paying $18 (or $36 for licenses for both windows and mac) for ecto. Neat little clutter er feature though.

I own Ecto, but I don't use it anymore. I switched my site from Blogger to Wordpress and now I use the slightly-flawed Wordpress text editor. Why don't I use Ecto anymore? Well, for one thing, it won't format text the way I want it to. And secondly, some glitch in the program deleted all of my drafts and I lost everything. The customer service is great, though. They sent me a fixed file, which allowed me to retrieve my drafts. Still, now I'm frightened of the program.

I use MarsEdit. It is universal and is zippy with my WordPress installation.

I've tried to use external tools like ecto, MarsEdit, Qumana but my solution is the free Performancing extension on Firefox. Seamless, elegant and fast. Did I mention free?
