Apple tech as suicide hotline operator
Overall, Apple tech support is top notch. Most of the techs I have spoken to have known their stuff, and are generally pleasant. Could it be that they are too pleasant? That's the impression that I get from reading this blog post entitled 'What would happen if the irrepressibly positive Apple repair technician I talked to this week about my broken iPod were to get a new job at a suicide hotline.'Ah, humor is fun, isn't it? Feel free to tell me why I'm wrong in the comments.

Top notch tech? what are you talking about? Every time I've dealt with them was horrible. Same with all my friends. They've had their warranties voided for no reason, the 'geeks' tell them they're stupid and wrong. Great customer care.

August 28 2006 at 7:34 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyYou must have never called about the xserve:) I've NEVER called an apple rep that knew what they were talking about in that area - maybe because we've always called about server stuff, but most of them have no clue about the the server technology that's installed in their box - though I'm sure they know much about the basic mac operating system. I don't know, maybe I've had bad luck, but all the San Francisco IT reps and companies I know all regard it the same way - and not because they're trying to make a sale, but simply because they've been on the phone at one critical point or another trying to get a clear answer to fix a problem.
