Steve Rubel has a nice post about using your iPod as a way to transport your presentations to and fro. The crux of the post is that you should get iPresent It, an $18 cross platform app that converts your presentation files into iPod friendly formats. It even autosyncs that that your presentation will remain up to date no matter how many times you change it.Anyone out there using their iPods for this kind of thing? Sound off in the comments.

I use to use my PDA as digital flashcards using powerpoint. It was an excellent tool for me to use. I definitly think I would use my iPod in the same way. The only downside is that the screen is a bit smaller than I would like. Maybe the next iPod will be a full widescreen! : D

I wrote an article about this in Machome's January 2006 issue. Sort of old news. But still cool nonetheless.

I guess the product itself might be okay, but you can save off your PowerPoints as a JPEG series and drag into iPhoto and sync with your iPod. If you really want to, write an automator script as an "autoupdate" thing, all without paying for a seperate program.

I did a segment on the "pre" version of MacBreak called "CheapNote" and "CheapNote To GO!" where I used Preview (CheapNote in full screen slide show mode to view a "presentation". Then I imported those slides to iPhoto, made a "slide show" then put that on the iPod (CheapNote ToGO!) Worked on any iPod that could display pictures. And it didn't cost 18 bucks!

i use my ipod regularly for my presentations. the latest version of keynote can automatically output to JPG/PNG and straight into iPhoto, which pretty much makes iPresent it unnecessary.
all i need now is a bluetooth remote for my ipod and i don't have to stand there and stay tethered to the projector.

I have used keynote for this type of thing. I export my slides as png's/jpg's and drop them in the photos folder for my iPod. I've taught a few lectures like this, and it worked great. The only down side was that when you export your slides as photos, you obviously lose any animation you have on the slide, which is one thing i love about keynote (eye candy). you can always export your slides as quicktime and then export them to iPod from QTPro, but it willl not allow you use it on your iPod as anything other than a self playing movie. I wish you could! anyway, that's been my experience. any other tips are welcome.

What a waste of money! I use powerpoint and export slides to jpg. Presumably this is possible with keynote. Stick the slides in iphoto and make a slideshow. And all for free.
(I've never used my ipod to present, but take it as a backup in case there are problems with my USB key)

I recently presented my demo reel via my ipod at a job interview. Before the interview I requested a TV and DVD player but when I got into the interview room I noticed there wasn't a DVD player just a 12 inch TV. Luckly I slipped the A/V cable into my pocket before I left the house.
Let me tell you they did not forget who I was after I left the interview.
