iColours for Apple notebooks

If the white glow of the Apple logo in your notebook isn't touching your heart the same way anymore, iColours might be just the touch-up you need to rekindle your love of all Apple things that glow (of which there aren't many). These 'high quality' filters come in a wide range of colors, and as you can see from our screenshot - they're customizable. They have a decent gallery of custom designs, and they offer installation instructions for iBooks, PowerBooks and
Base price for a solid color is $3.99, including worldwide shipping. While custom designs are available, they ask that you contact them before ordering. Needless to say, installing these most likely blows any warranty you might have out of the water, but that hasn't stopped you before, right?
Thanks Jason P

They don't give MB/MBP instructions. In fact, they are asking for instructions!!!

Well anyone could do this with a bit of theatrical 'gel', or some printable plastic...

I already did the solid color one to my iBook with some left over plastic from a gift.

I found two "guides" of how to do this on a MacBook, but haven't tried it myself yet, as it seems a bit more complicated than with the iBook/PowerBook, and I really don't want to ruin my sweet black darling MacBook.. Or the warrenty..
Guides for generally fumbling around inside your Mac:

A thread by a guy who did it with a black MacBook:

Yeah, I did this for my sister's iBook last Christmas, and it cost me one 70¢ transparency at Kinko's.

These have been in Japan for awhile. I got a kit in Akihabara with multiple colors and a tool for removing the top lid in 2000.

I'm a happy customer of iColours. Here's a shot of one of the filters I put in for Canada Day this year:

That's great. Now you need to get a U2 iPod, and you'd have a matching set!

My brother did this with his pb twice and it looks good with a single color, he did it once with 2 colors and it didn't look as good. I would suggest theatrical gels instead of this. I think it wold be cool to get a custom one from these people of the finder guy.

I did this awhile ago, I just taped an old apple sticker to the inside of the display, it happened to fit perfectly! -http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a243/h4cknt0sh/IMG_0002.jpg

I've just recently purchased some Beastie stickers from the BSD Mall. It's a nice touch and you don't have to open up your mac. I put up a couple pics on flickr:

I would prefer one in beige, so I get all the Retro goodness.

What? No Leopard design? How else can we support OSX 10.5 before it comes out?
Hope they create one soon...

you guys seen the protective plastic for 50 bucks that adheres to the outside, why not fix the gel to the outside of the logo, and then wrap it in the plastic? This wouldn't void the warranty, but would it be as bright as if it were on the inside?
Thanks for input!
