Interarchy 8.2

Interarchy, the venerable FTP client, has been updated today. Version 8.2 isn't groundbreaking, but it does include a number of nifty new features. The biggest feature, to me, is support for Growl (I do love Growl so). Also added are file converters which can covert files whilst downloading or uploading, and Leopard compatibility.

Interarchy costs $59.95, though a demo is available.

Nigel,

How is Transmit targeted at novice users? I'm a professional user, and Transmit meets my needs perfectly. The ability to drag files to my various droplets saves me a ton of time. How would Interarchy improve that?

When considering the price you need to consider what Interarchy is and who it's target audience is - creative professionals and power users. It is in the league of Photoshop, Illustrator, and BBEdit.

$59.95 is not a lot by any stretch of the imagination. We charge $100 - $150 an hour for design work. Spending approximately 20 minutes of our time purchasing Interarchy is no a big deal. In fact it is a no brainer when you consider the amount of time Interarchy saves us. Interarchy is worth a lot more to us than $60.

We could be cheap and save on the initial cost by buying Fetch or Transmit but in the end it would end up costing us a lot more in lost productivity. Fetch and Transmit don't meet our needs. They are targeted at the novice users.

I love Interarchy, but I'm not sure I love it enough to pay $60 for it. I should have got it when it was $40. Or perhaps those guys at MacZOT should have do one of their crazy deals.

It looks like a nice app with a lot of added features. But ... 59 dollars for an FTP client?

Maybe they should make a 19.95 version with some advanced features missing.
