Banner for September 12th event?

Here's the latest pic that is making the rounds in relation to the September 12th announcement. It purports to be a picture snapped by one of the employees at the venue that will house the announcement. I'm not buying it, but you know what they say, 'Don't shoot the messenger.'
Thanks to everyone who sent this in.

what you are seeing is the new video iPod being used as a remote to control your media being streamed from your Mac to your stereo or TV set, etc.. and you control it without touching the screen... aah, it would be nice

In addition to flaws in the graphic (curvature in the fabric not followed in the photos on it, edge irregularities, color inconsistencies, horrid logo placement), the giveaway is the font used. Apple uses a form of Myriad in everything they do (long ago they used Apple Garamond, a modified Garamond). In the graphic, a form of Futura or a related font is used. The giveaways are the lower case "a" and "t" which are the more geometric, symmetrical style rather than the more traditional, near-serif Myriad versions. The weight of the font used is also much heavier than Apple would use, even in reverse on a black background.
Too bad, I wanted it to be real.
The font being used is Futura, which isn't the standard Apple font.

And the pic is photoshat to look like it was taken with a QuickTake 100, the iMac on the fake poster has serious color artifacts going on, and the fake iPod AV looks like a diagonal rhombus, something apple would never release.
i've abandoned apple and asked all my friends to ever since the intel switch and realizing that iTunes is an 800 pound gorilla of the DRM'ed music industry that is set to become a monopoly.
Totally fake, but lets hope that maybe Apple will release a new iPod tomorrow i've been begging for one....

September 11 2006 at 4:43 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyThe photo just doesn't look right. For one why is the "banner" brighter than the actual environment.... Unless Apple has started using screens or backlighting on their banners... This has to be fake. I guess we'll have to see tomorrow!
