Apple and Google in talks about iTV
Steven Levy, writing for Newsweek, reports that Apple and Google are in talks to bring Google Video to the Apple iTV (which, of course, is that forthcoming Apple product that will allow you to stream all sorts of content from your Mac to your TV). Now, there is no word on whether the talks are limited to watching the free content from Google Videos, or whether you will be able to enjoy purchased Google Videos using your iTV (yes, Google sells TV shows on Google Video).Who knows, maybe Google Video will switch to using Quicktime.

Interesting how this started out as rumor and getting channelled through various news sources and ends up as fact...

Why would Apple team up with Google when Apple sells TV shows and now movies?

Adrian, I'm not reporting this as fact. You'll notice that it is in the 'rumor' category.

Google already supports downloads to iPod on their video site. And Eric Schmidt recently joined the board. And Google hasn't had a big win with video as of yet.
Some things are so connect-the-dots obvious that they must be true. ; )

It's also filed under "analysis" and given a head that has the distinct odor of "fact" wafting off it. I'm just sayin'...

I can already watch google video and YouTube on my modified xbox. Not to mention the 400 or so DVD's that I ripped to xvid/ac3. Too bad apple won't support xvid.

they can support xvid pretty easily, its mpeg-4 compliant (although i forget if apple has improved their own mpeg-4 support, it has been pretty crappy in the past). the main issues are lack of ac3 support, and container support. avi should burn in hell cause it technically cant support any of the crap people are doing with it, but matroska support would be nice. problem is that it seems to be a bitch to write qt components, so the existing mkv projects have went no where.

This would be really cool, but isn't the resolution really low on Google video? It would look like junk when upscaled for a TV or Projector...
