Parallels posts new build of Parallels Desktop for Mac

Parallels just posted build 1898 of Desktop fro the Mac. This new build brings with it a number of changes that my Mac Pro using friends will enjoy. You still need to limit RAM for this to work on a 64 bit Mac, but there is now a GUI tool to do this, so you don't need to run the commands from the command line.

This build as introduces support for Windows Vista RC 1 as a guest OS (which I am installing right now) and clears up some issues with kernel panics on Mac Pros.

Look for a version of Parallels Desktop that will work on any Intel Mac using any amount of RAM in the next couple of weeks.

@tim: That's probably because you installed from an .iso image on your hard drive, instead of an actual DVD. Copying from a hard drive is WAY faster than from an optical disc.

(Unless you used a disc for both installs... weird.)

interestingly enough, it took about 20 minutes or so to install this on my macbook pro 17" with 1gig ram.... but on my windows pc.... it took almost an hour. 3gig with 1 gig of ram! quite interesting!

Sorry, I tetried again. Then Parallels Tools works completely.

To do this, use vista's compatibility wizard.

Fernando,

You don't have to burn it, just map the CD-ROM drive to your Vista image, and it works... I'm installing it right now!

I donwloaded the Vista Instalation DVD image from microsoft.com, do I need to burn the dvd or I can install it in parallels directly?

The problem is that my mac don't have a dvd burner, and I would have to ask to someone to burn it for me...

Parallels support is the greatest! I had an issue with the last build's .PSF function (Parallels Shared Folders) and permission problems. He simply just gave me a link to an internal build to download (which is the build named above) yesterday and it fixed the problem. Thank you Parallels! Plus now I can give Vista RC1 a try!
