U2 iPod updated

Those iPod elves just don't sleep! Apple has updated the U2 special edition iPod, keeping it in line with the 5.5 gen iPods. $279 gets you the signature black 30 gig iPod with a red scroll wheel. Sure, that's a $30 premium, but if you like U2 (or red) then it is a small price to pay.

I wonder why Apple has limited this concept of special edition iPods to U2, I'm sure there are other bands out there that would like to get into this action (not to mention I am sure fans wouldn't mind sporting an iPod that shows the world what they like).

I'd pay $10,000 bucks for jpop in the iTS and either a L'Arc~en~Ciel, Ayumi Hamasaki, or Gackt iPod.

If not that, a Chili Peppers or Green Day iPod would rule.

Or, you could just get an iPod from:

and call it whatever band's iPod you feel like.

Dang. Once again, if only I'd waited...

I bought a white 5G iPod in June for $280, though I wanted the U2 iPod instead (big U2 fan, I have the original mono U2 iPod, donated it to family)...just didn't have that much money saved from holidays at the time.

Crap. If only I'd waited another 3 months, coulda paid the same amount for the iPod I wanted. Forget trading mine in, I won't get more than maybe half of what I paid for the white iPod.

Rats!

It is all about RED & BLACK. Apple's aesthetic foundation for 2007 and 2008.

Apple is moving from WHITE & BLUE to RED & BLACK. A conceptual cool shift. Vista is going rainbow - OSX is going red back spider black and red set againts neutral subtle grey - understated yet powerfully cool.

Leopard will emphasise this I predict. Look at the iTunes UI. Lots of black. Black MacBook. Black iPod's. Extra cool U2 iPod with unique 'status' colouring and street cred. White Stripes, Strokes, Emo etc. The youth dictate what is cool - nothing has changed there.

Take the red and black used in Nike+iPod as the purest example of the black and red future.

#15, a Children of Bodom Edition wouldn't tick me off, but I would rather a Dethklok Edition. That'd pwn so hard.
Blacker than the blackest black, times infinite.

Mmmm, I just bought another shuffle (accidentally washed my first one in the wash). If Jobs wants to win me over with this then he needs to get rid of the signatures off of the back and the [U2] thing as well.

An Iron Maiden iPod would be cool- I'd buy one to replace my trusty 3G iPod.

I'm thinking a full black design, with a silver Eddie engraved on the back.

"They've limited it to U2 because Steve's list of The Best Band Ever(s) is limited to U2.

Funny, I always thought his favourite was Bob Dylan, though, he's not a band.
