Found Footage: SlingPlayer for the Mac in action

We've written about the Slingbox in the past. If you're not aware of what Sling does, it is a network device that streams live TV from your television (or Tivo, or DVR) to a number of different devices including PDAs, PCs, and soon Macs. This video shows off the Sling Player for OS X running on a MacBook.

This thing is so cool that I'll forgive the Sling guy for calling the Dock a 'taskbar.'

Oh, and the public beta for Mac should be available at the end of October/start of November.

Does anyone know if this service allows you to record the TV to your computer, or does it only allow a live stream?

All very nice for people who want to watch TV. I liked his desktop image though, that was nice.

The crowd noise on this clip is unbearable! If they want people to watch their videos, they should buy an external mic or wireless mic. The audio is at least as important as the video.

I like it...but that guy really isn't the best at showing it off. Is it just me or did he just mention the three ways to change the volume? But anyway, it shows promise. I'm not entirely sure just how many people will move past the "that's pretty cool" point to the actual point of purchase though.
