BlackBerry OS X tethering a reality
This should please all you BlackBerry toting OS X users out there. Alex King has been on a mission for some software that would allow him to tether his Mac to his BlackBerry, enabling him to take advantage of the BlackBerry as a modem. He went so far as to collect a bounty of $700 for the first person to get this working.Daniel Pasco got it working, and he has also gotten himself the bounty. Alex has tested it, but Daniel is still working out some of the kinks. It has been tested on the 8700g and the 8703e.
And remember, if you're a BlackBerry junkie you should be reading BBHub where BlackBerry is king!

Sweet! I didn't think it was ever going to happen. I'm gonna run home and try this right now.

I tether my BlackBerry Pearl and use it as a modem all the time. No "bounty" required.

Hey Sean (3), if you check out the FAQ (at http://www.brainmurmurs.com/products/pulse.php) you will see that they acknowledge the fact that the 8100 "Pearl" BB does not require this solution.

Pearl 8100 works as an Edge modem wirelessly via Bluetooth. Easily implemented as per instructions on blackberryforums.com

The pearl isn't part of this because a true Blackberry has a qwerty thumb board. Finally I can tether with my mac and 8700.

If you read through the details on brainmurmors page, you have to set up a proxy server on your own box ... OR pay $4 a month for their service (or more for another). That is bull$hit... Why would I want to pay $50 for their software and then to top it off, pay another $4+ a month to not have to run my own proxy server?
I don't feel this is a good solution as on windows (sigh .. my work laptop) I can just plug in my BB and connect DIRECTLY to the internet.
Good work, Daniel, but keep working, because this is not a viable solution for most to have to pay another $4 a month or setup their own proxy server.
