ColdFusion bundle for TextMate

I spend a lot of time in a text editor. Sure, I don't code (much), but I write many, many things. Recently I have converted to the way of TextMate.

Why the switch from my once beloved TextWrangler (which was free)? One word: Bundles. TextMate has this really cool feature called Bundles (duh) that allow you (or someone who knows what they are doing) to extend TextMate with new functionality.

Textile is supported (which was the real reason for my switch) and today I learned of CFTextMate, a ColdFusion bundle for TextMate. Given the fact that if I am programming it is in ColdFusion this is great news to me (and a few others reading this blog I would wager).

Check out the screencast or download the Bundle.

Gavin,

Textmate comes with a built in bundle for PHP.

ColdFusion is far from dead and is actually thriving now more than ever. I myself am a recent switchover from Windows. I was sick of all the bloated text editors out there which is why I decided to write the CF bundle. I hope this will help more people with switching over like myself.

Groovy, but Cold Fusion?! I thought that died long long ago. If they had it for PHP I might consider giving it a go... or better still- is somebody creating something like this for Text Wrangler... please, pretty please!

Thanks for the headsup! I use CF Eclipse most of the time, but its overkill for quick edits.

And to the rest of you... do a little research before you open your mouths. Cold Fusion is as up to date as any other scripting language, with new features and versions being released every year or two. It has a thriving developer community, many of whom have switched to Mac in recent times.

If you used a revision control system like every reasonable programmer has for years, and like every responsible web developer should do, then you wouldn't have this need for ftp from within your text editor.

But in case you haven't discovered, Transmit and Cyberduck and Interarchy work with ftp quite nicely, and have external editing via TextMate out of the box.

What's ColdFusion, something to do with FORTRAN?

Eh I was never too fond of TextMate. Up until recently I was using TextWrangler, but I have since discovered skEdit and have not looked back.

I'm just baffled by the lack of FTP in Textmate... I do all my work via test servers all over the world. And no, hinky Transmit bridges aren't an acceptable kludge.
