Apple's Cupertino company store seemingly a magnet for sticky fingers
The Company Store at 1 Infinite Loop has had more than 20 iPods and 10 unnamed software packages go missing in the past 2 weeks. Although there is some speculation that a few of those iPods might have literally fallen off the truck - the shipping box they were supposed to arrive in was crushed and empty - it's a good bet that they were all stolen, although there are no suspects at the moment. Unlike the iPods got ripped off at Target, these iPods weren't under lock and key, but unfettered on the sales floor.[via AppleInsider]

This comment isn't about the article, it's about the ads on the right side of the page. I know you need ads to keep going, but please try and find some that don't constantly blink! It really makes reading your site a chore rather than a pleasure. I can't get through the page anymore without becoming so annoyed by the blinking that I just go somewhere else.

I'd have thought that Apple would have more security at their headquarters (unless they were stolen by employees). If I was a burglar I'd hate to meet Steve Jobs in the hallway with my stolen loot. The Reality Distortion Field would kick in and who knows what would happen.

Blinking ads? Are you guys serious? Wow...I dont notice them because its pretty easy just to block them out or like others said here just use ad block or something similar. Grow up.

"...Grow up."
Ok, just to explain further :
not all ads cause this problem, but there are a couple of ads that blink from black to white, but that really isn't the problem....it is, that when those ads are shown, the blink effect spills into the entire right side of the web page (not just the ad box). So, essentially, the entire web page is flashing in a strobe-like effect. That makes reading the website impossible.
Maybe this is only a problem with Safari.
It is only an opinion, maybe others are annoyed by it as well.

My iPod came from the company store (it was paid for, I promise). I could see where it would be pretty easy to snatch one or two from the shelves. As the article says, they are just sitting there on the shelves with no security on them. There's also always a lot of them. But I can't see lifting 20 like that. I'm more inclined to believe the "fell of the truck" story. I don't think the store has a loading dock and I know a lot of the deliveries to the Infinite Loop buildings are done from the turn lane of Infinite Loop. Maybe someone hit the trucks during the delivery.

While age and growing up have nothing to do with a suggestion, this seems to be a Safari problem like # 9 has posted. Because I'm old enough, I already had SafariPlus installed, however the flashing continues when using Safari. Because I prefer Safari as my main browser over Firefox has nothing to do with being grown up now does it?

For thise who have not been there, it's a seemingly free standing building off to the side of the main entrance. It's like a college bookstore look & feel - it's been there for probably 20 years now? It carries a lot of stuff the stores do not carry like geegaws imprinted with the Apple lgo to tshirts and sweatshirts ... there's not a lot of people in there but I suppose if someone can steal $200k of lgos from Target, 20 ipods is small time :-(
