Kenpo announces iPod jackets

Kenpo wants an iPod jacket on every back, it would seem. They have announced a lineup of 15 iPod enabled jackets that use a 'patented 100% fabric control system' that let's you, well, control your iPod by pressing buttons on your arm. The jackets come in a variety of styles for both men and women (sadly Kenpo's website is horrid and features auotplay video).

They will set ya back between $89 to $189.

I've written about many different kinds of iPod enabled attire, but I have never used any myself nor do I own any. Anyone out there have any iPod enable clothing? Let us know in the comments.

The only good thing I can think of about that jacket is that if you wanted to get someone's attention and couldn't (because, you know...), at least you could punch the friggin' button on his arm and turn off his music.

Sorry if that last comment seemed a bit irate. I just get frustrated when people bag on products like this. Just because YOU think it's silly doesn't mean the rest of the world does. I mean, alot of people thought the iPod Remote Control (the original one that Apple started selling several years ago) was silly - who needs to control their ipod, just take it out of your pocket; now alot of people can't live without it. Probably the same comment was made whenever TV/stereo remote controls were invented.

As others have pointed out, having large buttons conveniently mounted on your jacket is very convenient, especially if you live or travel in cold climates that require the use of gloves. Several years ago I visited Japan in January, the coldest time of the year there (hey, it was cheap). I remember the extreme frustration I had trying to dial a cell phone, use a video camera, etc. while wearing gloves; and then when I foolishly took them off so I could do said activities, watching my hands turn all sorts of interesting shades of blue and purple was sort of fun at first but the pain and cold quickly took the fun out of it.

By your reasoning, then, remote controls are totally stupid, and are only meant for lazy people who don't want to get off the couch to change the channel.

Cars are just plain stupid. I mean, come on, why doesn't everybody take a bike to work?

Bikes are stupid. Why don't people just walk to work?

Laundry machines are dumb too. I mean, come on, how hard is it to go grab your clothes, find the nearest river, and dunk them in there and scrub them with soap and stuff?

Jesus, what a lame video on their Web site. Nothing like a dbag dance-off to make a potentially cool product seem quite the opposite. Nice work, Kenpo.

If I could afford one I would totally buy the Burton jacket with iPod controls for snowboarding -- pain in the a$$ otherwise to take glove off, take ipod out, and push buttons on tiny scroll wheel, while submitting said ipod to snow/water. Same is true for any cold or wet weather situation. I say fabric buttons = awesome idea.

Where are my iPod underwear??

Come on now, aren't these items ridiculous? How many people actually spend money on these items? How are the manufacturers doing with these types of products? I can't see that they are selling very well.
