SlingPlayer for OS X beta goes public
You'll need a SlingBox, OS X 10.4, and a Mac (Intel or PowerPC) to use this beta. What you can't use, though, is an Airport Express. As explained in the FAQ, since the SlingBox needs to be hardwired to your broadband source.
Since I don't have a SlingBox I can't offer up many screenshots, but there is one after the jump
.
Here's the not so exciting screenshot:

Here's hoping they will work on making the interface a little more Mac like before it leaves Beta.

It works great on my Powerbook. I didn't try it on the intel Mac in the other room. All features work as expected/advertised, including full screen and a ReplayTV remote. It's about damn time, too. Good for SlingMedia for committing to the Mac and sticking to that committment even after it hurt a little missing their ship dates.

Also, the Airport Express comment is a bit misleading. You can have an Airport Express connected in Bridging Ethernet mode and that can be the way your SlingBox connects to the network. This works not only with the Airport Express, but any other wireless ethernet bridge out there including the one SlingMedia sells on their site. But that SAME Airport Express can not also be your WAN router. That would be an impossibility since the APE has only one ethernet port.

I'm impressed. In my quick test on my 15" MBP it was flawless. Really seems a solid implementation SlingMedia!

Rats, no PAL support. Going to have to keep my dualboot a bit longer.

I have been running Slingbox in Parallels without any trouble and was quite happy to see that it is now out for Mac OS X. It was the last app that I needed to be 100% Windows free. I am running it on a MacPro with 8 GB of RAM and it freezes up and stops responding after about 1-2 minutes. When this happens it also disables my internet connection.

Doesn't work at all for me. Starts up then I get a spinning beach ball for eternity.

Scratch that... it works great on my PPC Mini but not on any of my Intel Macs.

I previously wrote about the lockup problem with my MacPro. Well, my MBP also locks up.

I have downloaded the beta, but have had no luck running it on my PPC Powerbook, with an Airport Extreme Base and the Slingbox connected to the Airport Express downstairs. Interestingly, it worked fine on my Windows Tablet I have for work. Any suggestions?

I need help setting up a slingbox with two airport expresses. I am able to access the slingbox locally - but not out on the net.
