First 2nd gen iPod shuffle unpacking pics

We knew they were shipping, and it would seem that some lucky folks have gotten their iPod shuffles. TUAW reader Markos has posted pictures of his unboxing ritual on Flickr. Oh, how I love to see pictures of people opening up new Apple products. Does that make me strange?

Nathan sent us a link to his unpacking pics, which were taken in a softer light. Check 'em out.

After the jump, a pic of Nathan's shuffle in the dock.

Ain't it cute?

Just as I suspected, the shuffle easily fits inside a Sony EX-71 case, along with the earbuds, (as long as the extension cable is removed).

It's a contagious ritual; photo graph your new toys.

Wow, that is an excessively large package for such a small device.

Anyone find it odd Apple is now no longer including the necessary software to operate these newer iPods? Not everyone has iTunes on their PC, nor does everyone have broadband internet, so having to download iTunes may be a dealbreaker now for some people.

If they want to keep the packages small, they need to put iTunes on the iPod at the factory, and just have the first sync wipe out that data if the user doesn't want the 30 or so megs taken up. Really odd to see an oversight like this in an Apple product.

These are some of the worst unpacking photos I've seen... There are lots of way better ones on flickr.
