OmniWeb on sale, $9.95
I nearly choked on my own excitement when OmniWeb was finally universal, and it seems The Omni Group is making one last push to send me to an early grave: For the month of November, they're offering OmniWeb for a nifty $9.95 -- $20 off the original price.I know what you're thinking: Why pay for a browser? Because, my friend, it doth rocketh. Workspaces, thumbnail tabs, advanced auto-saving features, site-specific preferences, super-speed...uh...pretty icon...etc.
If you've never used OmniWeb, I suggest giving it a try before November's end; you may like it, and if you do, now's the perfect time get that license.

Yep, I'm an OmniWeb user. I love it. Payed full price, too. I'd buy another license for $10 in an instant.

I love OmniWeb. Unfortunately, I didn't get it this cheap, but I did get it at the EDU price of $19.95. ;)

I tried OmniWeb when it first came out, but didn't cotton to it. I noticed that it now sync's bookmarks via .Mac, so I have little reason not to give this version a test drive. Here goes.

I can definitely say that I'm probably going to pay for this. But only if they promise me that they'll make it so my start page doesn't open up with every new tab.

OmniWeb just keeps getting better. I wish I could settle on a single browser. I love Safari for it's speed and simplicity. I love Firefox for its compatability and extensions. OmniWeb brings a little of both to the table and more.
For me, the biggest selling point is the site-specific preferences. I can turn ads off on some sites and keep them on for sites I like.
One major thing I can't stand about Omni is not having the ability to have tabs go across the toolbar. I don't like drawers at all. And with a large display it's a long scroll over to switch tabs unless I want to take my hand off the mouse to use the keyboard shortcut.

what? dotmac syncing? YEAH! this kept me from buying Omniweb first. Now I might give it a new spin, although I love my pimped up Safari..

I've tried this several times in the last few months and can't get ad-block or tab preferences to function the way I want. This is an easy set-up in Firefox and Camino (which I can't make my mind up between), so anything more expensive than $0.00 is not going to tempt me back to OW.

I bought Omni's Productivity Bundle because OmniGraffle and OmniOutliner are 2 of the best programs in the universe if you're an information architect and web designer. They threw in OmniWeb but I didn't think I'd use it. I decided that since I paid for it, I should give it a shot.
At first I didn't like it because I was trying to replicate my Firefox experience. I wanted it to work just like Firefox works. But when I let go of that and let it work the way Omni wanted it to work, I realized what a great browser it was.
Now I'm an OW addict. It feels like working in Safari or Firefox are archaic in comparison. Viva la OmniWeb!

I paid the full price a while ago. Stupid money for any browser. Yes it is fast but it is ugly. Ugly looking software isn't why I have been using a Mac all these years

I know it sounds stupid but i downloaded it and didnt like the look of it, i hated the way it put little folders in my bookmarks bar and didnt do it the way safari did.

Just bought this - I was on the verge of buying it for $30, and having to decide which of my two machines to keep it on... but instead, I bought a family pack for $15. Awesome stuff. I've been an addict since the early 5.5 betas, and I can't get back into using Safari.

Just bought it. Love OW. So fast.
I hate the Favourite Bar folder icons too. Wish there was a way to change them.
Omni seem very open to feature requests though so maybe I'll have to post this one on their forums as well.
BTW, if you use Safari and then purchase any kind of add-on, you're probably paying as much or nearly as much for your browsing experience as you would for OW this month.

Amazing how people's experiences of the same product can differ. Last time I tried it I found their forums to be a closed shop, with one fanboy running around defending anything he felt was an implied criticism of his beloved browser.
Donovan, if I purchase any add-on for any browser (which incidentally I haven't) and it is the same price or more as OW, I do it because I get the browser I want. OW isn't the browser I want for any money, so I'm afraid your pirce argument is a non starter.

Well, here is some more marketing:
OW is a very good browser. It is my primary browser except when I use Firefox (love those extensions) to view non compliant pages.
The bookmark Sync .mac capabilities are flawless!
While you are at the Omnigroup.com site check out there other stuff. Omni seems to pay attention to there user base. Glance at the Forums.
PS. I do not work for Omni, but I believe that they have a product line that is top shelf. Omni is an extremely creative group.

I bought it too. OmniWeb is great. It appears to be faster than Safari even with the speed hack. I haven't really figured out OW's rss handling though. I prefer Safari's implementation of it because I'm so used to it and it fits my needs. Safari's rarely updated though and OW might become my browser of choice as it is frequently being improved upon. Webkit is great too but sometimes it doesn't play nice with my Safari hacks. OW is definitely top notch and I think $10 is worth it for the effort omnigroup puts in.

I had never tried OmniWeb until I saw this post. I'm a recent Mac convert, and one of the biggest sticking points thus far has been my browser. Safari is fast, but very feature limited and coming from Firefox on a PC, I simply couldn't use it. Opera and I just don't jive. Camino is good, but still lacking in so many features and has a lot of polish to go until (in my opinion) it is viable as a primary browser. I have been using Firefox, and while the 2.0 release is a big improvement over 1.5, it's still not great on a Mac.
So I downloaded a trial of OmniWeb and have given it a shot for a couple days now. This browser is fantastic. It's (by simple tests) faster than Safari or Firefox. I opened the three of them, cleared the caches, and timed how long it took to go to several webpages and completely load them (Some filled with Java, some filled with flash, some with images, some with a mixture, some with just tons of text). Omniweb was fastest in -every- instance. I have yet to come across a webpage that won't display properly.
The bookmark capabilites could only be considered as "iTunes for Bookmarks." The amount of customization is incredible. Ad-blocking works, and has a great user-customizable block list. Keychain integration is a big plus for me, and the fact you can sync bookmarks with any WebDAV capable host is a lifesaver. The workflow idea is excellent and I've already found myself to use it quite a bit, and the session saving has been a lifesaver.
All in all, OmniWeb has pretty much all the extensions I had installed for Firefox built in, and the speed (plus a bit) of Safari. It can be as basic or complex as you'd like it, as there are quite a few customizations that can be done under the hood.
I'd say that if you haven't, check it out. It's an excellent web browser, and after 2 days of using it, I shelled over the $9.99 for it.
I hope this doesn't sound too much like advertising, I'm just really excited about coming across a web browser that solves all my concerns I had.
