Who Is Hubert?
Strange things have been afoot in the Mac shareware community over the past few days; manifested by the cute-as-a-button icon you see to the right popping up on multiple different sites. All we know about this cute lil' guy so far is that his name is Hubert.Oh, and he doesn't want us to talk about him.
It's probably safe to say that Hubert is the brainchild of Mac Marketing guru Phill Ryu, and developer Austin Sarner of Disco and AppZapper fame is probably involved as well. If I had to hazard a based on what information we have, I'd say Austin is working on a new application, and a fun one at that. Maybe the OS X equivalent of BonziBUDDY? At this point, we can't do much more than speculate, but perhaps you readers will do some digging and find some info that I might have missed. Good luck!
UPDATE: Changed the link in the middle of the post because apparently it now links to a porn site. Gotta love the internet. Link now goes to something a little more apropos.

well viewing the source for the site there is a link that points to Unsanity's website. my guess is this has more to do with Unsanity + Phil Ryu's recent purchase of resexcellence.com (just a guess because it is the newest thing with Unsanity that I know of)

Are you guys being paid by Ryu, Sarner et al? I bought the cheap early-bird offer of Disco on Maczot, and its a nice app, but all this viral marketing (see MacHeist as well), and TUAW's constant promotion of it, is starting to get a bit old.

#4 And it's tiring. I don't want to have to hunt to find out information about a product. Just tell me about the damn thing and where I can buy it. Disco's nice, but I think it was a build up that really misrepresented the product. Yes, it's got a great UI and all, but it's just a burning app. No need to go all nuts about it...
At the very least, just give me an RSS feed and I'll read about it as it comes along.

Since disco points us to macheist, it seems to be reasonable that this is a heist teaser.. Heists are supposed to be completed to get nice stuff.

Man, I'm just sick of the hype bullshit. Disco was a terrible app, all hype and graphics and no features. First disc I burnt was a coaster and it has less features than Finder.
Now you guys at TUAW are getting suckered in again, when will it end. I hazard a guess you're making these teenagers very rich by constantly working in their marketing department for free.
