I'm sure you're wondering who I am and what I'm doing here. In the spirit of Jane Austen, let me respond: "It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a geek in possession of Apple enthusiasm must be in want of a weblog to share that love." I am a long-time Mac enthusiast and technical writer and I am honored to be given this opportunity to share my Apple passion with all of you out there in reader-land.
Some of you might know me from O'Reilly's Mac DevCenter. I'm bringing my Mac consumer content here to TUAW as I continue to write there about technical and developer-oriented Mac and digital media topics. I look forward to getting to know you and I hope you enjoy my contributions to this site.

Welcome Erica!
Your book "Modding Mac OS X" is one of the best Mac reads ever!
Taught me a few new tricks, and reminded me of several others I'd forgotten along the way.
Great to see you now contributing at TUAW!

Dear Erica
I'm writing you from Italy and I don't know if this is the right way to get in touch with you. So please excuse me if I am doing it wrong (please let me know how I should do it in the future) and also excuse my mistakes but I hope you will understand me.
I have purchased an unlocked iPhone 1.0.2. in the USA and I use it without any problem in Italy, I would now like to upgrade it to better software (1.1.2 ???) but I really do not know how I can manage it. Could you please let me have your suggestions in an "easy to be understood" way? Please be also informed I am working on PC and not on Mac, so any suggestion you could give me should be for PC.
If you could send me a "private" answer I would really appreciate it or eventually inform me please when and how I will have to look in TUAW again to find you answer.
With my warmest regards from the province of Vicenza in the North/eastern side of Italy (just about 50 miles west from Venice)
Vincenzo
