Fake Friday: iPhone Phorgery
Today's lame iPhone Phorgery is brought to you by youtube.com, vendor of many things mythical, unsightly or worse. In today's video, feast your eyes upon a novel-looking phone extension that appears to exist in only two dimensions, much as Zod (kneel before him!) was trapped in that whole Superman II thing. Hate the sounds. Hate the font. After factoring in imagination points, today's TUAW forgery score is 3.5 out of 10, with a severe 1.5 from the East German judge.
What do you think TUAWians? How do you Rate The Fake?

Unlike most fakes we see here this one doesn't seem to be passing itself off as a real item. It looks more like the creator was using the Apple Remote and some imagination --despite the odd use of a harp-- from a Philip K. Dick novel.

Don't like it. Full Ack about sound, font. And it's not very well done.

You really don't get more lame than using the German word "uber" ahead of the word "lame", except maybe saying something is "uber-duber lame".

don't understand all the hatin'. The sounds are obnoxious and the UI was made to look incredibly slow, but the idea is brilliant. Straight outta Star Wars. His presentation was a bit weird but the concept is slammo!

Obviously a fake but very cool nevertheless. The image that comes up is bigger than the "screen". And there's no way an Apple Remote sized device could produce audio that good and have a battery life better than about 3 seconds powering a projector and transmitter for a cell phone.

I did not watch the video with sound, but it is a rather keen video.
I was thinking more Star Trek than Star Wars, but a clever idea nonetheless!

I think it is absolutely horrid. You can see the plastic where the screen is and the GUI looks photoshopped together. If your making a mock up, at least make it look somewhat presentable. Not like some 5 year old made it (Sorry for insulting 5 year olds across the world by comparing them to this garbage)

This is a concept, not a fake. A fake would have to be trying to pass itself off as the real thing, which this clearly isn't.

1 out of 10, because it did pretend to be a phone.
