Apple Firmware Restoration CD 1.2

The Apple Firmware Restoration CD 1.2 will restore your Intel-based Intel-based Mac to original factory condition. It can only be used to restore the Firmware after an interrupted or failed update.

If your computer is already bricked, you'll need to download the update and create the CD on another Mac computer (PowerPC or Intel), or take your Mac to your local Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider and they'll do it for you.

If any of you had a problem with yesterday's firmware update, you might want to try this restore CD before you panic. Let us know how it goes!

Well, glad to know I'm not the only one, I guess...
Firmware update wrecked my MBP, restoration CD didn't do anything, now stuck in drive, and my computer is at the repair shop. At least it sounds like it might be covered under AppleCare.

I did a bad firmware update too, so... the same unusable iMac like yours. DVD stuck in drive but I got it out with the credit card tip. And same Restore Firmware CD solution not working at all. But I have no Apple authorized techs near me.

So... keep in touch.

I have two mpb, the update was interrupted and now is dead, my second went well and I burned the restoration CD but it will not load and now is stuck in the CD drive on my first machine. I'll make my trip to the store in the morning.

my update went fine, but a day later i'm having crazy battery issues. related, i dunno, but i'm suspicious. the charge fluctuates and tells me i'm near empty when it is at 30+%

will be calling apple care tomorrow!

trying the last firmware update procedure rendered my iMac 20 (early 2006) useless.
the firmware restoration cd procedure also failed.
when I press the power button the led blinks fast and then goes directly to the long tone and restarts again, no matter at what point I insert the CD.
I have a dead mac now when I was looking for an improvement.

Update - just spoke with the Apple Tech working on my computer. It turns out that I need a new motherboard, and it may not be covered because the software could have caused it... I'll update again when I hear more.

I just attempted the firmware update and it failed. I tried the firmware restoration CD, and the failed too. Now I have a dead MBP with a restoration CD stuck inside.

Apple care couldn't help me any further over the phone, and said it's most likely a new hardware issue.

I called the local authorized repair shops, and they both said that it would take about a week to fix - I think I may buy a mb, use it for a week, and then return it once I get my mbp back, but I should have a better idea after I take it in tomorrow.
