Missing Sync for Windows Mobile syncs Yojimbo notes

Due to a SonyEricsson phone that recently passed away, I took a leap of faith and purchased a Windows Smartphone device, primarily because I want push email and I think the BlackBerry OS was beaten beyond death with a fugly stick (yes, I know it's still all the rage with the kiddies these days). Device and OS debates aside, I was pleased to discover that the most recent 3.0 version of Missing Sync for Windows Mobile supports syncing items from Yojimbo, though there is a limit - bookmarks and PDFs don't seem to sync; just text notes (to Missing Sync's credit, however, browser bookmarks can be synchronized through a separate included plugin).
I'm not sure how long it's done this, since I helped test the 2.5 beta back during the summer and I don't remember Yojimbo being on the list. Regardless, it's a welcome addition and alternative to syncing mostly Apple and Microsoft apps, however I should warn you of one more catch: Smartphone devices (which I bought) don't seem to be able to edit these notes (just like they can't edit Office docs either; only view them), though full-fledged Pocket PC/Windows Mobile can edit them just fine. I've found a few 3rd party apps that might be able to overcome this hurdle, though I haven't had the chance to give any of them a run-through just yet. If anyone knows any better, you know what to do.

I've had a problem using my Motorola Q push email via Exchange Server and using Missing Sync for syncing my contacts and calendar. I've been told that I'm pretty much out of luck. Any ideas?

It is a good feature to add, but I was somewhat surprised to have to pony up another 20 bucks for this upgrade after purchasing 2.5 at the end of August.

I use WM5 on my phone and while it's useful with the push e-mail and such it can also be dreadfully slow at times, I've even had it crash on me a few times! It's still no worse than Motorola's OS though.

i upgraded to 2.5 just so i could get WM5 support, then they go 3.0 and make me pay more. i'm not sure the extra is worth it. hasn't really worked very well previously.

#1: Andy, I'm pretty sure Missing Sync can't help you here, though I admittedly know roughly nothing about Exchange server. I'm using Missing Sync for syncing everything - contacts, events, etc. I signed up with that 3rd party 4SmartPhone service I mentioned cuz it's cheaper than Cingular's offerings, but I'm still only using that for email. And even then, all I'm doing is creating a filter in Gmail (which I use to wrangle *all* my email and filter spam) and forwarding certain messages off to a private email address that 4SmartPhone gives you, so even then I think I'm using a fairly funky setup.
Do you have any sort of sys admin you can bug at work about this?

I've been using 2.5 since it came out of beta. 80% of the time, it worked well. The main issues I had were due to a string of bad Treo 700w's--I am on my fourth one. The current one I'm using did not like 2.5 at all. It was quite troublesome. Since upgrading to 3.0, virtually all of my problems (loudly knocking on wood) have been solved. I strongly recommend the upgrade, even though the extra charge was annoying. In the long run, it is worth it.

I've had nothing but major issues with this software. Back up your contacts before you attempt to try this. It screwed up over 300 contacts of mine.

I picked up a Windows Mobile smartphone last week (for work) and decided to purchase Missing Sync this weekend...
I was able to sync my Address Book exactly once. Further attempts to sync my Address Book failed!
I tried:
- Rebooting Mac
- Rebooting smartphone
- Uninstalling and then reinstalling Missing Sync on Mac
- Uninstalling and then reinstalling Missing Sync on smartphone (CAB file)
- Deleting all com.markspace... preference files
- Resetting the sync history
I contacted Mark/Space about the problem and so far they have been unable/unwilling to help me :/
I'm almost ready to ask for refund at this point.

@tnkgrl
I had the same problem and it was because my bluetooth was set to use "modem" instead of "RS-232" Once I got that fixed (which required deleting blued.plist, instructions here: http://www.markspace.com/support/kb.php?x=&mod_id=2&id=2690) I was able to get it working. Try that and if that doesn't work, search around the forum and knowledge base. It took me 4+ hours to get it working with my new Cingular 8525.
From what I've seen on their forums, It's not very "Apple-like" setup and configuration. Oh it has all the fancy gui stuff to make you think it is, but it's not. Like I said, 4+ hours this weekend. I felt like I was using windows software! :)

Ben, thanks for the tip, but I'm not syncing over Bluetooth, I'm syncing over USB... And while I'm unable to sync my Address Book, I'm able to sync my iCal perfectly! So what gives?

I have had nothing but hassles trying to use this software and the fact that the version 3 is an extra cost is a real slap in the face. The software promises much but it is so buggy it is not actually usable. I have corrupted my calendars / contacts a number of times so far .... :-(
