Within 24 hours the Zune is at #20. Maybe M$ itself is buying all Zunes on Amazon to get a higher ranking...

All MS v1.0 products are absolute crap. BUT, they have deep pockets and they'll continue to revise and refresh Zune to make it better and better. So Apple will need to stay on its collective toes.

Look at the Xbox division, after five years, it has yet to made a profit. MS keeps funnelling money into to grab mindshare and eventually turn a profit years down the line (if ever). I can easily see MS dumping loads of money into the Zune even if its relegated to second place.

Not only does the Zune have aways to go before it reaches the iPod's level, it also has to pass other mp3 players, such as the Zen by Creative.

The Zune is #91 right now.

Zune is nothing less than the ultimate "want-to-be" - if there ever was one!

M$$$ must be really feeling good about now - just think of the tax write off M$ is going to have this year - now if they could just keep the write off going for another year oe so - think what kind of profits they might end up with!

It's up to number 76 now. Considering the lead the iPod has had, it's not surprising that it's at the top. Not that I like or will buy a Zune, but it's a little silly to read anything into these figures today. Let's talk again on January 15th, say.

#8: Judging by the giant-ass "Welcome to the social" billboard within sight of my apartment, they are most definitely advertising.

while thats true, the screens are SOOO small that its not noticeable at all. and to remain educated on both, i have played with a zune a bit, but i cant imagine 1/2" to 1" of extra screen to REALLY be a selling point on something that small.

its like picking a 72" lcd over a 70" when you will NOT notice it unless youre anal

Scott, way to be a mac fanboy. The zune still has higher DPI than most monitors.

Too bad microsoft messed up on the software side.

Looking at black friday adds retailers weren't helping generate Zune buzz. I'm in grad school so I don't watch a lot of tv, has MS even been advertising heavily? Are they even trying to make a big splash. Maybe being where they are on Amazon without trying is pretty good. Are we reading the new backwards?

The screen of the Zune appears larger, but it is the SAME RESOLUTION as the iPod. What that means is that you will get grainier, more pixellated images on the Zune. Typical bait-and-switch from Microsoft.
