USB sync cable/charger for your 2nd gen iPod shuffle

I love the second gen iPod shuffle, but having to use the little dock to charge and sync it is a little bit of a drag. Sure, the dock isn't bulky but when I'm traveling I just want to take a cable with me and be done with it.

Luckily, for our Japanese readers at least, Diatec will soon be releasing a cable that plugs into the minijack on the shuffle and then into any USB port you choose. Pretty darned sweet. They will also be selling a charger that you can plug directly into an outlet to charge up your iPod shuffle on the go. These should be available sometime this month in Japan.

No need to wait to get an alternative connector for the 2nd gen Shuffle. Get the IncipioBud, a tiny USB plug thingy that will probably be the smallest connector available for the Shuffle.

See the hinged prongs ? The adapter can be plugged in edge-on, so it take very little space if your powerstrip or wall outlet is alrady crowded with wall-warts. The Japanese are very good at adapters like this one, as all their cel-phone power adapters have the hinged prongs.

Of course, the hinged prongs on the adapter for my Motorola phone are hinged on the other side, so there is no space-saving ability to plug it in edge-on. Doh!

Or just buy this and be done. Works great, and much more compact if you're charging from the computer.
