doPi Karaoke + iPod + alcohol = trouble
Don't ask me why I was Googling for karaoke systems that worked specifically with the iPod today, but I was. I found some. The doPi Karaoke appears to do everything I want it to do, including showing the lyrics on the screen of my video iPod. The doPi Karaoke System (doPi is iPod backwards, btw) comes with a converter, a mic, all the cables you need and a song card that gets you your first three sing-alongs for free. After that you'll pay $1.99 for each song, and the download library is still a bit anemic, but it should get better with time. Just download the songs, dump them into iTunes, sync up your iPod, get good and drunk and then go crazy!
It's only $60 so it won't break the bank, leaving you with enough cash to get your spouse/kids/pets/neighbors/co-workers some earplugs.

Why bother with this when QuickTime natively supports .kar files? Just search for .kar files, download them, open them with QuickTime and you are in Karaokeville!

Pronounced "Dopey" no doubt?!
$60 for an iPod karaoke machine?! That's a little steep if you ask me. Not to mention a stretch of the imagination for iPod accessories, although it is a little bit more realistic than that iPod dock/toilet paper dispenser...

I have a huge archive of mp3+g files, and a pc in the livingroom with a mic and amp to use them. This is great fun, but it'd be something else if we could have something portable and self contained!
