Think Christian: Parodies of the Mac/PC commericals from Community Christian Church

For a raised-Jewish, card-carrying Agnostic, I've managed to find quite a few religious themes to post about today! 'tis the season, I suppose.
Think Christian points to a series of excellent videos put out by the Community Christian Church. They are parodies of sorts, done in the style of the current "I'm a Mac/I'm a PC" ads - which is what makes it relevant here, in case you were going to ask - with their own special twist. Instead of Mac and PC, we meet "Christian" and "Christ-Follower."
The ads are really very good and you don't have to have any religious affiliation to view them, enjoy them, or even despise them, if you prefer. I have no idea whether they are effective or not, but I can say with certainty that they didn't make me, heathen that I am, want to "switch." Your mileage may vary.

Snarky comments aside, those videos are very clever and well-done. They promote a Christian mindset or viewpoint which is very different than the stereotype. I am not a Christian, but I admire the thought and effort that went into those "ads".

Teunis, you have a warped image of what "true" Christians and the Bible really teach.
It is very easy to knock over a straw man.
Stop arguing with Christians.
Talk to a Christ follower.

Hey Chewbaca (poster 1). Just because you ask, here is my analogy: "christian" is to "christ follower" as "Mac user" is to "hard-core TUAW forum inhailer." Hope you can make the connection and no-one feels offended :-)

Since Chewbaca asked, please let me explain this in a few words:
> i didn't know there was a difference between a "christian" and a "christ follower". will someone please explain to me the difference?
Many people call themselves Christians but are not true followers of Christ. In the videos, the "Christian" apparently counted on his appearance and actions to make him right before God, which is something called "legalism."
> oh, and i've never accepted the love of jesus or been saved. but i did date a girl who was. would someone please let me know if that counts to almost being saved? am i splitting hairs?
"Accepting the love of Jesus" is not a Biblical concept. The point of it all is that we have sinned against God (broken His commandments, for example by lying, stealing, hating, adulterous thoughts and actions, not honoring our parents etc.). If God is righteous, He must punish all lawbreakers, which means eternal suffering in hell. The good news is, however, that God sent His Son Jesus to live a perfect life and die as the substitutional sacrifice for our sins. In order to have Jesus' righteousness applied to you (= to be saved from God's just punishment), you must repent (turn from) your sins and trust Jesus as your savior (like you would trust a parachute to save you). That's the Gospel in a nutshell.
There's nothing like "being almost saved", just like there's nothing like "being almost pregnant". You either are or are not. I hope you think about this today.

@ Martin - Thank you for posting that very thorough and user-friendly explanation, even though the original question might not have been serious. Comments (instead of flames) like yours are refreshing! I hope that compliment means something even coming from a heathen like me :)

It is a common misconception amongst both Christians and non-Christians that the Bible teaches that you have to believe in Jesus to be saved/go to heaven.
Have you ever met anyone who is conceited and self-righteous?
It can be pretty nauseating. God feels the same way.
The Bible says that God opposes the proud but gives grace(forgives) the humble.
God won't let you into heaven if you are proudly pointing to all the good things you've done.
God will let you in if you are humble and repentant for all the bad things you've done.
Every human has broken God's law and owe's a debt they can't pay.
That's why God's Son died to pay the penalty of our sins.
So now you know.
So are you going to trust in your own goodness or humbly ask Him for forgiveness and trust in Him?

yeah, whatever, i'll debate the christian/christ-follower thing on some other forum. but i like that they used the same actor for both parts, which imho apple should have done, to show the true beauty of the mac over the PC.

So what exactly does an Agnosticism card look like, and how does one gain that extra special level of status in the agnostic... um... religion?

I really don't want to sound mean or start a fight, but...
SubGenius, what you said really wasn't Biblical.
"God won't let you into heaven if you are proudly pointing to all the good things you've done.
God will let you in if you are humble and repentant for all the bad things you've done."
Salvation does not depend upon how well someone lives their life.
That statement is actually more Buddhist than Christian.
