Software Update: iPod Software 1.2.1 for 5th gen iPod with video

We got word from Mark and Ben that iPod Software version 1.2.1 was tricking out via the iTunes Software update. Being a cynic, I didn't take their word for it until I plugged in my own iPod and saw it with my own one good eye. What treats does this update bring? Bug fixes. What bugs? What fixes? We have no idea. Apple has seen fit to keep it a secret so far. If you figure it out before we do, let us know!

Thanks, guys!

I bought a new music cd on Sat 2/3 and loaded it into iTunes. I connected my iPod to sync it and that worked fine as always, but when the screen came up advising that there was a software upgrade for my iPod I clicke ok to install it...That is where my problems began. My iPod froze and wouldn't work at all. I tired the 5-R's with no success, I tried Restore with no success, I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software with no success. I did however find a solution to this problem, I took my original CD that came with the iPod when I bought it and loaded it onto a laptop that had never had the software installed before and was not connected to the internet. I then connected my iPod after doing a reset and clicked on Restore and sure enough it loaded the old original software on it and it is as good as new. Now I have to go home and re-load the 4,800 songs and videos that I have backed up on my computer. And I will NOT load the 1.2.1 software update as this was surely the problem with my iPod. I hope this helps someone out there.

I have G5 iPod 30Gig. Yesterday I've installed iTunes 7.02 and my problems started.
I cannot install new 1.2.1 update, i get a message corrupt firmware. I cannot reset since i get same message.
I've uninstalled iPod software from my PC and reinstalled it, still get same error as well as G:/ drive, which my system doen't detect. Apple tell me that it will cost me 80% of the current iPod price to fix it as well as I am getting this message in the event viewer
"The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( iPod Service ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: Service started."
Can anyone help. My appologies for the long post.

my ipod usually got stuck when i played some song which had no id tag... it was really bad.. it actually sounded pretty strange and then it´d reset. Now it doesn´t happen anymore and thats good.
I heard some comments that said that Apple had made the software versions very badly, so afterwards they´d put new "bug fixes" for us to say:"wow apple.. we love you" hahaha was really funny though it could be true.

I'm with Gyve Safavi (comment 18): the backlight is always reset to 10 seconds. I just want to leave the backlight off so I had to uninstall update 1.2 and find a back copy of iPod Updater 2006-06-28 to be able to keep the backlight turned off. I sacrificed the gapless and the search features for the battery life. I've been afraid to try 1.2.1. Is it true then that 1.2.1 still resets the backlight to 10 sec?

Hey my friend just got a new 2nd gen. iPod Nano and I noticed it had 'music search' on it in Main/Music/Search...I thought it was reallt cool so I plugged in my iPod video(5th gen iPod) and updated it to 1.2.1, Which I thought included the 'Search' thing... but my iPod never got 'search'...It's a really cool feature which I would Like to have... Why hasn't my iPd gotten it!?

Am I the only one HUGELY disappointed that 1.2.1 doesn't solve the error -48 problem ? Is there a fix for this outside of software updates - THAT WORKS ?
