More iPods in space
A few months ago, Scott pondered how many iPods were in space. Well we have a confirmed sighting of at least one more, besides Anousheh Ansari's, on the International Space Station. Click through to the hi-res version of this pic of European Space Agency (ESA) astronaut Thomas Reiter, an Expedition 14 flight engineer, and play our own iPod-centric version of Where's Waldo.
Next up from Apple: a complete line of NASA + iPod products?
Thanks, Marco!

I wonder if skinnier astronauts get to take more stuff with them. It seems only fair to have a total mass budget.

Hmm, I can just see it now...
* iPod + Space Shuttle audio system integration? (they have them in cars, and soon airplanes too, so why not?!)
* NASA + iPod EVA kit - a bluetooth receiver that docks onto your ipod, plus a bluetooth transmitter that attaches to your space suit's EVA pack. Warns you when your oxygen level is getting low, plus provides data on how efficiently (or not) you use your oxygen supply. Also keeps track of how many calories you burn on those strenuous spacewalks.
* Space Shuttle operations manuals on audiobook/podcast?
* Oh yeah, and a selection of space themed movies on iTS: Apollo 13, The Right Stuff, 2001, ..... and of course Rocket Man...

I'm with LittleJoe, screw the iPod look at all the lenses in that picture, especially the one under the desk he is sitting at.

lately ive been reading about the processors used on the space shuttle and how much they have to be protected, so that makes me wonder how an ipod can 'just work' in space with the EM radiation.
perhaps this should be a new 'it just works' ad?

That has a whole new definition for iPod shuffle.
I just want to know how they keep the earphones from scrambling.
