New "Goodwill" Mac Ad
Thank you to everyone who wrote in, to let us know that Apple had uploaded a new "Get a Mac" video to their site. In the "Goodwill" video, the Mac and PC decide to put aside their differences in the spirit of the holiday season. But of course, the best intentions can easily go awry. And yes, in the end they hug. Happy Holidays TUAW readers.

"Banging on about 'photobooks' for example. I know no-one who would want to make one of those."
After a recent family holiday, I spent far too long trying to find somewhere in Australia I could get a photobook done in time to make a Christmas gift out of it. Unfortunately the only place I could find had a turnaround of a month and charged $100+.
I personally like these ads, especially this one. Maybe it's just the Xmas spirit, but I like that it's a step towards a not-much-talked-about mentality in the computer realm. (Or the world as a whole.) A sort of Taoist approach saying "I'm not better than you, you're not better than me. Let's just be ourselves and get along." or, in the immortal words of Rodney King, "Can't we all just get along?"

If I was not already a Mac user, there is nothing that would bring me in. They show two people talking with each other about what they can do, meanwhile, XP is creating these awesome commercials SHOWING what they are capable of.
Although I like these commercials, I feel that they are a waste of time and money. Create a commercial showcasing Macs and what they are capable of. I know Apple has some amazing video software, put it to use!
Guys hugging...as Archie Bunker would say, "Awwww....geeez..." with a very pained look on his face.

I love the subtle hand motions that "PC" does while saying how "one does important work" - he's actually pointing to "mac" :)
