Remote Buddy supports Wiimote
We've previously mentioned my favorite Apple Remote utility Remote Buddy, but the just-released RC1 adds support for the Nintendo Wiimote in addition to a variety of other supported remotes (including obviously the Apple Remote as well as offerings from Keyspan and Griffin). We've also previously mentioned several hacks, but this is (to my knowledge) the first commercial program to support the Wiimote as a useful input device.A while back I looked at several of the Apple remote utilities, but I finally settled on Remote Buddy as being the most flexible. It includes a variety of control sets for popular programs (e.g. iTunes, VLC, QuickTime Player), without compromising access to Front Row. Perhaps my favorite thing about Remote Buddy, however, is the keyboard and cursor emulation, which I often use to scroll on screen text when I'm leaned back and reading. Remote Buddy is shareware and runs 9.99 Euros (~$13) while in beta, but will increase to 19.99 Euros upon release (which is presumably coming soon given the release candidate). I definitely recommend it. What remote utility do you use?

Is there a remote application that allows me to use any old remote for more detailed abilities? I'm sure we all have a ton of remotes lying around that would allow for a lot of ability.

I use Remote Buddy, I normally watch movies in VLC and decided that, since I don't often skip back and forth, that brightness would be better to control (late night movie-watching.) Remote Buddy was the best and easiest of the various apps I tried, and the presets for programs were a great surprise.

Wow! I just downloaded and tried out this program and it's pretty refined. It's so good I bought it after about an hour of use.

So... would this allow me to buy a Wii controller, and use it instead of the mouse to move the pointer around? And then, I presume, one of the buttons on the Wii controller would take the place of left-click and one for right-click?
This would be awesome for me since I too like to lean back and surf. Please let me know!

I'm a big fan of Remote Buddy, I purchased and have been using it for quite a few betas, and it has developed very well. I've also got a Wii, so it's pretty cool that I can multi-purpose my wiimote!
