The iTunes Bowl - College Football games coming to the iTS

As an big college football fan, this got my attention. Playlist is reporting that Fox Sports will bring entire bowl games to the iTunes Store. Erica previously noted that iTunes is changing the way people watch sports. As a commenter on that thread pointed out, this is a godsend for sports addicts in far away places. The games will include the AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic, the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, the FedEx Orange Bowl, the Allstate Sugar Bowl and the Tostitos BCS National Championship Game and will generally be up within 24 hours after the final play.

In addition to the full-length games there will be highlight shows available at reduced prices (presumably similar to what they had last year from ABC; I still occasionally enjoy my Longhorn's rousing National Championship in iTunes).

Too bad Fox appears unable to post the actual video. I think selling sports on iTS is a great idea, especially when it comes to games that I can't get on TV , but rapid access is even more important when it comes to sports than with other content. Even 24 hours is a pretty long time whe you are trying to stay unknowledgable of the outcome of the big game. I live in Sweden and have been waiting for the Fiesta Bowl for some time now.

Even though I'd already seen last year's national championship game countless times — and my wife had already bought me the Rose Bowl on DVD — I purchased the highlight video through iTunes. Since I almost always have my iBook with me, the game is usually just a few clicks away.

Too bad Texas ain't in one of those bowls this year. haha. Sorry, I just had to throw that in there. My Irish made it, but it may not turn out too pretty in the end. I guess the outcome determines if I purchase this game from itunes or not. Hopefully we can end this bowl losing streak. Go IRISH!!
