Logitech Control Center 2.1.2

Attention Logitech mouse and keyboard users: the Logitech Control Center has been updated to version 2.1.2. This system preference pane enables you to program special features of various Logitech mouse and keyboard combinations. Above are the setting for my Logitech MX Revolution. Some have reported problems with this upgrade, but there has been nothing but smooth sailing on my MacBook.
The Logitech Control Center is free and supports OS X 10.2.8 through 10.4.8 on both Intel and PPC Macs.

I've had enormous trouble with the new version of LCC, specifically it didn't recognize my Click Plus Optical mouse. It basically said "No Logitech device found". I tried everything, but eventually resorted to uninstalling 2.1.2 and going back to the working 2.1.1 LCC.

Does anyone know if the new LCC supports middle-click in Safari, Camino, and Firefox? (I uninstalled the previous version, because middle-click would not open links in a new tab...)

Wow. Who cares? It's an update to a driver, it can't really do anything but cause trouble ^^ read first post

@Tony
Yes it does and yes it did.
I've got the MX revolution running with LCC 2.1.1(still at work, didn't update) and I can middle click.
What you need to do is disable manual shifting between scroll speeds.
The scroll wheel button will then be customizable and you'll then want to set it to advanced click and set that to mouse click "3".
With LCC 2.1.1 I've had issues where the mouse would switch to manual shift on its own so hopefully that'll be fixed with 2.1.2

Tony, choose for the wheel button "Advanced Click" and choose cmd + click as configuration. Works with any browser. ;)

I use SteerMouse with my MX1000 - IMO it's far better and more flexible than LCC. Sure it's $20, but it's way worth it.

I am having many problems after installing the 2.1.2 update.
The Logitech Control Center System Preference crashes every time I attempt to modify a setting.
I am interested in reinstalling the 2.1.1 version, but I do not have this installer any longer.
Does anyone know where I can download the older version? I checked on the Logitech website and I am unable to find it.
Thank you.

@mapin - agreed. I saw this and thought that finally logitech had got off their lazy butts and would support my MX900 mouse, but nope, must've been too hard for them...

Good features, bad bugs. I like the fact that 2.1.2 allows me to assign buttons for expose and dashboard, but it crashes a lot. Has anyone else had the problem of not being able to remove applications from the application specific settings menu? It's driving me crazy.

It seems the LCC still is buggy! How did you get it up on your macbook?

As has been stated, use Steermouse for external mouse settings. It's perfect for ALL Bluetooth mice, including the MX900.

It supports all mouse buttons on every mouse on the market and a ton of easy to configure button actions. it will also give you far smoother movement than Logitech's driver or simply using the built-in HID driver. Far better than USB Overdrive or Gamepad companion as well if you want to compare it to other software.
LCC should never be used with any mouse - this new version is no exception unfortunately.

This may sound stupid - but how do I know which version I am running?

anyone know how to make the MX Revolution's horizontal scroll as fast as the mighty mouse ball?

I've switched back to 2.1.1 because 2.1.2 was causing my system to boot extremely slow. Even after bootup it took about 2-3 minutes for the system to start running smoothly again. That's not normal for a 2.16Ghz C2D with 2GB RAM.
Never had any problems with version 2.1.1 and found that is was fully customizable for my MX Revo.
