Microsoft Mac BU sponsors 'Blogger Lounge' at Macworld

Microsoft has really embraced blogging, in a way that Apple most certainly has not (though I find it interesting that blogging features heavily in Apple's advertising). As you might expect Microsoft will have a large presence at Macworld next week, since they are the second largest Mac developer out there (second to Apple) and all. They will have their usual large booth showing off their wares, but this year Microsoft will also have a 'Blogger lounge.'

The Blogger Lounge will feature iMacs, tables, couches, refreshments, and internet access for laptops. Well done, Microsoft, well done. I'm sure I'll be popping into the Blogger Lounge at some point, though I like to think of the entire show floor as my blogger lounge.

Hmm....what more do bloggers want than .Mac?

How about usability, overdue upgrades, proper integration with programs, and to get for a reasonable price what so many sites now offer and do better for free?

Couches, refreshments, yadda yadda. But will they be giving out free, hideous-looking Acer Ferrari laptops loaded with Vista? That's what bloggers REALLY want.

Yet they have also held back web design and development - so it's ironic to embrace a culture that's shot so hard at them for their lack of standards support and heavily dated browser... even IE 7 is a minor fix. I'd like to see them embrace the internet more as a whole, and start with the foundation.
