Is "One More Thing" yet to come?
We have nothing but an anonymous tip to go on but this one comes from a slightly more reliable source than our usual tips. Then again, maybe we are giving it more clout than normal because, as thrilled as we are with today's Applegasms, we still want more. We're greedy like that.Anyway, we've been advised to keep our eyes open for an announcement of new or updated software, perhaps before dawn. Since David is already a pro at sleeping on sidewalks outside of convention centers, we're trying to talk him into camping out in front of the Moscone again to see if he catches anyone swapping out the ad kiosk signage.
I'm still thinking iWork '07 and possibly iLife '07, although with today's hardware intros, the iLife update seems more likely for spring and/or summer to coincide with the Apple TV and iPhone ship dates. I'm still surprised that Leopard wasn't mentioned at all during the Keynote, which makes me wonder when they are letting the cat out of the bag?
Stay tuned to see if we called this one right or if we wake up with egg on our face - although the open bar tonight might cause that anyway!

I have this bad feeling that iWork and iLife 07 will be Leopard-only. I think they are going to make an announcement about all three at the same time. Think about it - it's perfect. iLife and iWork 07 could take advantage of all the new enhancements to OS X such as Core Animation - coming in Leopard.

Speaking of "one more thing" (although perhaps a bit off topic), does anyone else think its natural that Apple enter the LCD TV market? Or -- in the least -- partner with Sony (whose Bravia they featured extensively at MacWorld) to offer an LCD with integrated Apple TV?
They already have the vendor relationships with their excellent Cinema Displays, and the LCD market is clearly absolutely hot right now -- I think a 3 year period intense HDTV adoption started about a year ago and will continue over the next few years.
Not everyone has the need or impulse for something like Apple TV, but nearly everyone buys televisions .. it seems like they could clean up making TVs with integrated iTunes functionality and further solidify their iTunes/iPod offerings.
And an Apple TV? How cool would that be.
JP.

Well being that Steve mentioned a little something about: "We'll see more Mac things in the next couple months", I would say something is still coming :-)

I think they should (if they havent already planned to) release a full screen video iPod that is just an iPod. One with the same interface as the iPhone one, but with a larger capacity. If they could release a video iPod with a 60-80 gigabyte hard drive for around $400, I would be one happy camper. I think they may have a "one more thing" event on the last day of the conference, or s short time after, and announce the video iPod, and the release dates and specs for Leopard and iWork/iLife 07'. I can only hope.

Its called MacWorld because the event is sponsored by IDG Publications, publishers of MacWorld magazine.
If the magazine was called WozJobsGhods then that would have been the name of the conference.

Tyler G, I'm glad finally somebody came out and said the exact thoughts that were on my mind. It is MACworld as you said, not phoneworld or Tvworld or whatever.. I dont mind apple coming out with these sorts of things but other keynotes dedicated to CE like devices like Ipods of past would have been more appropriate venues. So all in all today we came away with a new router(partly rumored) AppleTV already annouced, and the Iphone(a given)...what was new? what was completely fresh?

Im going to go ahead and say that apple is waiting for windows vista to be released since their last blog stated they will have no more delays shipping vista out on the 31st, there is always a chance for windows to do a last minute fix before production to make vista even MORE like the mac leopard..well just have to wait and see

I understand your grief about the whole MACworld thing because I'll be in the market for a new Mac soon...
but lest we forget... its now Apple, Inc. Not Apple Computers, Inc.

Not sure if you all noticed but today during the Keynote there were some new effects during the presentation that I had never seen before, perhaps he was using the new Keynote...

C'mon, my fellow Mac Heads! Hit up my humble iMac unboxing and leave me a high rating (only if you like it (even if you don't ;)) :

I COMPLETELY agree with post #4.
I don't really need a watered-down iPod with a watered-down web browser attached to a souped-up phone.
Don't get me wrong - this iPhone is AWESOME, and it fills a need for a lot of people - I just don't think it's me. We'll see.
Personally, I just want the iPod. I have been waiting almost a YEAR. I want a 60-80 GB hard drive with the touch-screen technology, and if they could make it so I could download pics from my digital SLR camera directly to it as well - that would be gravy.

To add to the growing chorus, yes the iPhone looks pretty sweet and all--but was anyone else just a little bummed that there wasn't one single thing announced in Tuesday's keynote that you can buy today?
Would a little love to the Mac faithful been so tough to throw in? I know, i know--focus on the big innovations, but gee whiz...
Must have been blinded by the light from the iPhone screen. But it does look pretty bright.

Phone looks great, plan to grab one. iTV - don't need it, plus I'm out of component connections.
When was the last keynote where no laptop or desktop (sic) hardware upgrades were announced?
How about a bump for the mini to Core2Duo, small bumps for the mb and mbpro, octo-proc for macpro...

I fully expect there to be more announcements in some new fashion this week. There have been more rumors leading up to this Macworld than any in recent memory. Apple always has something up its sleeves that wasn't rumored to be announced, and it's usually something that obviously makes sense immediately following the announcement.
PS If I didn't have to get up early tomorrow on the east coast, I'd wait up until 12 AM PST cruising around the iTunes Store expecting some sort of "mania" to "invade" the iTS USA... ;-)

Some of you may be a bit disappointed... but I felt like I was "watching" history in the making reading live blog entries. The iPhone and AppleTV are awesome products that bode well for the MAC platform.
I switched back to the Mac after 12 years in the PC wilderness. And $100s per year for anti-virus, anti-sp, anti-this, anti-that... XP stinks; Vista will stink. PC's will still get infected and people feel like fools throwing money away for a temporary fix.
OS X rocks! Leopard is crouching - ready to spring on an unsuspecting Microsoft. I can't imagine what else is in store but Bill Gates should be nervous. The tide has turned to the Mac platform and will accelerate this year.

Three years from now we'll all have updated and smaller iPhones that *are* our computers. We'll go to work with them, take them home, plug them in - use larger displays and keyboards with them, etc.
This is the future - and it's pretty f*ing cool.
iPhone doc in your car? You betcha. Home stereo? Oh yeah Displays and or keyboards with docs... I need a moment by myself.

Wel they just released a new Airport Extreme with draft n wireless, that could be the "one more thing." Not that exciting, but a necessity for HD streaming.

#1, I agree, iLife/iWork '07 will be Leopard-only. They'll be able to add slick new features, and spur sales of Leopard. Sorry to all you cheap whiners, but that's the way Apple works -- software drives hardware sales. Get over it.
Think of KeyNote being able to take advantage of Core Animation. Drool.
