Is "One More Thing" yet to come?
We have nothing but an anonymous tip to go on but this one comes from a slightly more reliable source than our usual tips. Then again, maybe we are giving it more clout than normal because, as thrilled as we are with today's Applegasms, we still want more. We're greedy like that.Anyway, we've been advised to keep our eyes open for an announcement of new or updated software, perhaps before dawn. Since David is already a pro at sleeping on sidewalks outside of convention centers, we're trying to talk him into camping out in front of the Moscone again to see if he catches anyone swapping out the ad kiosk signage.
I'm still thinking iWork '07 and possibly iLife '07, although with today's hardware intros, the iLife update seems more likely for spring and/or summer to coincide with the Apple TV and iPhone ship dates. I'm still surprised that Leopard wasn't mentioned at all during the Keynote, which makes me wonder when they are letting the cat out of the bag?
Stay tuned to see if we called this one right or if we wake up with egg on our face - although the open bar tonight might cause that anyway!

FWIW, an Apple Consultant told me last night that Steve's keynote was running on Keynote '07.

On Time.com's article Steve Jobs alluded to the fact Apple was first investigating the Tablet market when they decided to go for a phone. Certainly I hope we have a one more thing event, for its great to have new items on the block and works wonders for Apple stock!
January 10 2007 at 11:28 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyA couple things:
1) Apple changing its name to "Apple Inc." doesn't mean a whole lot. It just means that they see a lot more in their future than computers.
2) The only things I wanted to hear were ship dates for Leopard and the iApps. Got nothing...We will probably hear something in a little while about the software. Also, a previous post claimed that Leopard could be released in July. Doubt it. Apple officially said Leopard will be shipping by spring. True, anything can change, but Apple is more diligent about ship dates and keeping promises than Microsoft.
3) Someone said that iLife/iWork could be seen this summer. No. Considering the fact that, traditionally, the iApps have been previewd in January at Macworld, Apple isn't going to wait until summer. It's a wrong move if they do.
4)For all of those wondering if Steve was using Keynote 4, I would have to say "yea." Some of those builds and transitions look completely new. I can't wait to see what else Keynote 4, or iWork for that matter, has in store.
re: focus on iphone -- they did just change the name from Apple Computer, Inc to Apple, Inc. I think it is safe say that apples focus is no longer on computers. Macs are just part of the apple brand...
January 10 2007 at 5:24 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyIf you watch the iPhone segment about Mac OS X running on the iPhone, you would notice to the right of the centre of the X: âCore Animationâ. If I recall correctly, âCore Animationâ is a Leopard feature; therefore, I think we can assume either that:
a. Leopard will come before the iPhone.
b. A major Tiger update (like 10.3.9 was for Panther) will happen right before the iPhone, with Leopard coming right after.
I think I can expect Leopard either in June or July. Thoughts?
WHERE THE HELL IS MY NEW ISIGHT????????????
January 10 2007 at 1:00 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Replymy only disappointment is software. If Apple had not mentioned it in the keynote, but released it mentioned it would be a separate show/news that'd be fine.
Other than that the keynote was sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just hope we hear of software soon.
#1, I agree, iLife/iWork '07 will be Leopard-only. They'll be able to add slick new features, and spur sales of Leopard. Sorry to all you cheap whiners, but that's the way Apple works -- software drives hardware sales. Get over it.
Think of KeyNote being able to take advantage of Core Animation. Drool.
Wel they just released a new Airport Extreme with draft n wireless, that could be the "one more thing." Not that exciting, but a necessity for HD streaming.
January 10 2007 at 12:05 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyThree years from now we'll all have updated and smaller iPhones that *are* our computers. We'll go to work with them, take them home, plug them in - use larger displays and keyboards with them, etc.
This is the future - and it's pretty f*ing cool.
iPhone doc in your car? You betcha. Home stereo? Oh yeah Displays and or keyboards with docs... I need a moment by myself.
