Over 100 Paramount movies now available on iTunes Store

Today's Keynote theme is 'from rumor to reality,' and as Michael posted earlier over 100 Paramount movies are now available for purchase from the iTunes Store (most for $9.99). This marks the first studio that isn't directly involved with Disney to make their movies available on iTunes. Can the others be far behind? Knowing Hollywood's traditional fear of digital distribution, sadly I think the others could, in fact, be far behind.

If there are 100 Paramount movies available on iTunes now, they certainly are hard to find. Even searching for something like Zoolander doesn't return any movie results.

Yeah, the new ones aren't live on the store yet, no matter what this press release says. You might want to revise the post. ;-)

I don't see anything new either. All I get is the soundtrack when i search for something like "Italian Job". Hopefully, they'll be up soon, but I hope the video for the keynote is up sooner.

Yes, like in Canada? They sold video iPods but no movie download possible. Well, maybe Apple Canada just wait for the wide screen iPod release?!

Some Paramount movies are on the store. Looks like all of the Star Trek are available now! :)

I expect movie downloads to see a real increase in February, when the appletv starts shipping. If things go wel, which i'm sure they'll do, other studios won't be able to stay behind. These guys are really paranoid about new technology. Biggest problem is that they haven't had a big sales crash like the music industry had years ago. They don't have the real need to search for other forms of distribution. In stead they can lean back and see how things work out with the early adopters. It was just the same with TV Shows.
And alhtough I don't buy stuff from the iTunesStore, I certainly hope they'll expand the movieservice to worldwide coverage soon.

It is getting increasingly annoying that Apple keeps touting new movies and tv shows being available on iTS and with products that play them (iPod and Apple TV) yet they are not being sold anywhere but the US. It took long enough to bring iTS to australia, lets hope it won't take another 3 years for videos to come over.

For #8...do you really think that Apple is the reason that you are unable to download movies etc. from the iTS? Of course they would love to be able to sell to your market too, it would bring them more money. People are so short sited complaining about not having things available in their home country, or not being able to download single tracks from certain albums. Did it ever occur to you that maybe there are legal issues, or issues with the Movie companies that won't allow Apple to sell in your area??? I'm sure they wouldn't pass up the money if they could sell to you!!
