German-based Nova Media landed on our radar last year with their iSync plugin that supports more phones than Mac OS X's default set. Not content with mere syncing, however, the company also makes an Address Book plugin, recently updated with more supported models, that allows phones from Nokia and Sony Ericsson to shake hands with Apple's contact manager for all sorts of phone call integration. Sending calls to voicemail, replying via an SMS, logging the call and even starting one are all possible from within Address Book. And while AB supports these operations with the default batch of iSync-supported phones, Nova Media's Address Book plugin enables these operations with a large set of Nokia and Sony Ericsson phones that Apple likely never will support.Unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be a demo available for download, but at roughly $8.50 USD (Euro 6,50), I bet it would be hard to go wrong. After all, I can say from personal experience that $8.50 would be a small price to pay for the satisfying ability of clicking a button in a Mac OS X dialog to send someone directly to voicemail.

There's a 60% cheaper alternative for Sony Ericsson users which does exactly the same, available here:

And BluePhoneElite2 from MiraSoftware.com is WORLDS better at the integrated telephony side (and a downloadable demo IS available). I still use Nova Media for my Moto A630 on rare occassion.

But I've read the feisar plug-in does not support SMS address book unless you edit a few of the address book files. I've also read that with this same plug in it also disables any other phones syncing as well.

@Zal: You must've read incorrectly. I've been using both feisars Address Book Enabler and K800i iSync plugin for a few weeks. Both work perfectly, no editing of files required (its a standard Apple installer), and the iSync plugin doesn't stop any of my older phones from working at all.
On the other hand, a plist hack I tried from macosxhints.com did stop my other phones working, which is why I got the feisar plugin.

Hi Zal,
Just to correct the info you posted about my products.
1) The Feisar Address Book Enabler and iSync Phone Plugins are two separate products, neither of which affects the other.
2) You do not have to edit anything to use SMS with my Address Book Enabler. It's a easy installer, which you run and it just works.
(For years there were instructions on my site on how to achieve the same feat, by editing plists within the Address Book application, but it was tricky to implement for many people.)
3) I think you are confusing my iSync Phone Plugins with comments made about a hint on www.macosxhints.com, which did disable other phones in iSync. However, I can confirm 100% that all the Feisar Phone Plugins, play nicely with other phones and do not disable any other phones syncing.

What a shameless promotion of useless tool. No need to buy a plugin. All you need is to change one line in plist file in order to support new model of mobile phone.
1. modify /Applications -> iSync.app -> Contents -> PlugIns -> ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevice -> Contents -> PlugIns -> PhoneModelsSync.phoneplugin -> Contents -> Resources -> MetaClasses.plist
2. Add identification strings to the array
3. Save plist and restart isync.

Purchased the software this afternoon after reading about it here. Wanted to get my N70 working with address book in full since I got it a year ago and Nova claim this is the case and that its a supported phone.
No luck activates it, connects to it and nothing new is available to me still not able to send SMS and dial. Would I recommend spending 8 euros on this? Not a chance doesn't work after they have tried to support me, their support sucks and after many tries on 3 macs I give up.
I'm glad I only wasted 8 euros on this....
