Keyword Manager from Bullstorm scored a license purchase from yours truly
the day we found it, and the feature-packed iPhoto keyword plugin recently had an unassuming but handy upgrade to v1.1. Clicking on the "What's New?" heading at Bullstorm's site reveals a strong list of new features, including:
- Address Book auto-completion
- Share keywords between photo libraries
- Alphabetic sorting of keyword lists
- Preferences windows
- Built-in software update
If you've been looking for an easier-to-use and more powerful way to wrangle your iPhoto library, I highly recommend giving Keyword Manager's full-featured demo a try. One of its most useful features, besides highly streamlining the tagging/keyword assigning process, is its ability to
filter keywords in a search. This is something iPhoto is sorely lacking, but Keyword Manager makes it easy to pick keywords to both search for and exclude. This feature alone is easily worth a good portion of the plugin's $19 USD (€19 in Sweden and EU) for a single license.

Apple needs to include this functionality in iPhoto 7.

...or you could get the FREE keyword assistant utility from ken ferry, which works like a charm for rapid keyword assignment include batch handling, invokes rapidly and is totally stable:

...or you could stop posting knee-jerk reactionary comments pimping free software whenever a commercial equivalent is posted just because you don't want to pay for something. Keyword Manager does a lot of things Ken Ferry's doesn't, and I've actually personally discussed some of these features with him. I've used Ken's keyword plugin for years, but Keyword Manager has some key features that appeal to some users who need more robust control and organization of their keywords in iPhoto.

At least for me, this plugin is worth every penny.

Geez, Dave, lighten up. There's nothing wrong with posting a strong free alternative. If I hadn't known about Keyword Assistant, I'd be happy to learn about it as well and make up my own mind. I've been using KA for a while now and have found it to be perfect for my needs. While Keyword Manager definitely looks sexier, I can't find any real reason to make the jump.

Anyone knows if this plugin or another way, could link keyword together. i.e. I have the keyword "Friends" and "Matt". Is there a way to have the keyword "Friends" automatically added to a picture I tag with "Matt"?

Olivier-
Keyword Manager will do that, you just assign Matt as a sub-keyword of Friends and it's automatically entered. I used KA before and Keyword Manager is definitely worth the money .

One point about filtering keywords in iPhoto. If you bring up the standard keywords "pane" and option-click a keyword, it will filter it out of the view.

Can it save the keywords into the files like Picasa does or are they still part of a database so your hard keywording work is lost if your photos are moved to another system or image cataloging program?

Anyway, this seems like a feature Apple has to include in the next upgrade to iPhoto. So I'll wait and see what's in store for the next iPhoto.

Keyword Manager really is good. I'm hoping it becomes another coverflow as it does something that iPhoto should do out of the box. KA was great and Kudos to the dev for offering it for free.

#'s 11 and 12: ditto. Whether's KA or KM, iPhoto has gone without features like this for far too long. On the flip side, I'm glad these devs can get the attention and make some money off providing some great plugins... oh what a twisted web!

I have installed keyword manager and now iphoto doesn't work. I would like to know how I can safely uninstall the software and get iphoto working again. It's a bit urgent as well, as I need this for work.
Thanks
