Ecamm Network has updated its popular iChatUSBCam software to version 2.2. I tried this in the past but could never get both the audio and the video working with a Logitech Camera.
If the video worked, the sound wouldn't work or vice versa. I dunno its null and void since I have a Macbook now :)

Maccam is just the driver, you still need iChatUSBCam to use the webcam with iChat.
From the maccam page...
"The component is that actual driver that allows other applications to access the video-stream. (note: iChat does not recognize USB webcams unless you install iChatUSBCam - this is shareware unrelated to macam)"

With my Logitech STX I have to goto iChat Preferences and select the camera from the Microphone pull-down; it is listed as "unknown usb audio device".
I rarely use the webcam mic, but use a different USB mic, and iChatUSBCam allows me to use it and the Logitech camera (for video) simultaneously.

I just set up SKYPE, aMSN, iChat, etc. with a LOGITECH QuickCam Pro 5000. The nice thing about the 5000 webcam, is that it uses the APPLE native driver that has been included with OS X since 10.4.3. The driver was added to the OS to support the built-in cameras in iMacs and MacBooks which are USB based cameras.
Everything seems to work... I even got it on sale for $50 CAN. FUNDS after mail-in rebate.
So far, I'm happy with how iChatUSBCam works. The mic in the webcam is properly recognized as well. Any webcam that uses the USB Video Class (UVC) standard should work right away with the Apple driver. Ideally, iChat should be updated to support any webcam that the Apple driver has already recognized. If SKYPE can work right off the bat with a USB webcam, then iChat AV should also just work...
Other Apple software such as Quicktime Player (with QT PRO enabled) see the camera immediately. The problem is only with iChat itself.
