YouTube history of Stevenotes
Harry McCracken, over at PC World, has gathered an incredible collection of YouTube videos chronicling Steve Jobs introducing things. All your favorite Stevenotes are there, and you can relive everything from the launch of NeXTStep 3 to the introduction of Airport.
My favorite, though, is this video in which Steve introduces OS 9. Ah, the Keychain, one of my favorite features of the Mac OS, gets its share of the limelight.

Anyone know why the voice password feature dropped in OS X? (from the os 9 vid) I'm guessing it was due to it being tricked by recordings, but does anyone have the actual reason?

Ah Sherlock... I was going to say whatever happened to that, but then I remembered it's still there, sitting unloved and neutered...
Funny how this Stevenote is so quiet compared to what they're like now...

I was working with OS9 back in the days and never heard of a voiceprint feature. Find that pretty cool! But sure it could be tricked too easily.

Is the whole ecommerce feature gone from Sherlock? I only see shopping from Ebay currently. No amazon.

This is a pretty cool collection. The one video I've never been able to find is the introduction of the iTunes Music Store. I'm not talking about the promo video that shows that rocker dude talking to artists - I wanted to see the actual Steve Jobs keynote that introduces the very first iTMS for the Mac (not Windows). I've looked everywhere and it's either not available or not very easy to find.

If Sherlock wasn't Universal Binary, I would think that Apple has completely forgotten its existence. It's like an old relic of the past. Strange...

All Sherlock needs is for someone to write new plugins for him, and he'd be alive and healthy. The best thing that could happen to Sherlock would be for him to be converted into a widget and updated with new plugins.

Sherlock was another Apple app that lacked any use outside the US, if it really did have any use.
The funny thing is, Sherlock 3 kicked up a huge furore when it came out, Apple was accused of ripping off the 3rd party product Watson, and now the whole app is all but forgotten.
