Interarchy 8.5 & Interview
I'm a Transmit fan myself, but we seem to have a house policy of noting updates of the old-school (if you will) Mac FTP client Interarchy. Well it has been bumped to version 8.5, and has a new owner: Nolobe. In addition, TUAW favorite John Gruber has an interview up with Interarchy's original author Peter N Lewis and the new one Matthew Drayton. Perhaps the most interesting revelation is that the app is still mostly written in that bane of my middle school years: Pascal!Version 8.5 has some interesting new features like integration with the Terminal, AppleScript support, and a new Dock Menu. Check it out at Nolobe.

i can't believe not many use interachy. It's the only ftp client i've seen that opens up ftp sites like the finder's windows. If I preferred the cuteftp/transmit look, then I'd probably be using some windows explorer instead of my finder.

Agree, it's the Finder-like windows that have me hooked. Although seduced by Transmit initially, I subsequently switched back to Interarchy for this reason alone.

Agreed - I've never understood why Mac users use FTP programs that are utterly alien to the Mac interface. Guys, there is NOTHING intuitive or even sensible about the "my files/remote files" interface. It's kludgy and harkens back to the DOS days.
On the other hand, I've never forgiven Interarchy for constantly increasing their price since the Anarchie days, and adding features of dubious functionality. Face it - 90% of the guts is built into the OS, and I'm just not paying that much money for an interface. Especially when downloading from FTP is built right into the Finder.
